Determining AMP Case Mate Version

Am I correct in remembering there was at least one revision to the Mate?

I ordered both the Annealer and Mate in late December. Annealer was of course backordered and just received this week. The Mate was in stock and delivered right away, so no way to tell how long it had been in inventory. The Mate packaging has “#193” written on it, if that means anything.

Just want to make sure I don’t have a unit with known issues or shortcomings before I start working towards getting it dialed in.

My understanding is there’s only been one version but there any number of firmware updates and parts patches that have occurred since it’s release. To be fair there are a number of known problems and issues that have come up since it was released and it does take quite a bit of finagling to get it to work correctly. Make sure you contact them directly if you were having problems and they will walk you through every issue that may need correcting. While there have been problems the company has also at least seemed committed towards working towards a solution to make sure they are all working although I do know people who are still struggling with it. I have had one since the beginning and have gone through various fixes in the last six months and I’m still waiting for a part to show up that hopefully will be the final fix for me. I can get about 20 or 30 pieces to go before it shuts down and it’s pretty repeatable and supposedly the part that’s coming will fix that final issue. Something to keep in mind is that every single one of these units is hand assembled and there are pieces that may need to be loosened and adjusted when you receive it so that it works correctly as well as a motherboard that needs soldering and/or replacement from them directly. I have spent countless hours emailing, videoing, and working on making mine work correctly. I have bad hands and neck so even when it only works a little bit it is still a huge savings on my body physically so that’s why I have endured with it. But I know other people who have simply put it aside or gotten rid of it because of the problems. If I’m not mistaken they were a number of conversations at Southwest Nationals between people who are struggling with it as well. I know there are a few people who haven’t had issues (or at least won’t talk about it if they are) but I think it’s far and few between. Frustrating at best and certainly something my fellow shooters make fun of me for since I’m more of a technology guy and they laugh at me because they see my struggles. Fingers crossed the final part fixes it.

To the OP, I’m happy to help if I can if you get yours and have issues.

I set mine up last night but I had it sitting in the packaging for a few months. One thing I had an issue with was that it would start annealing before the case went in, like it was out of sync. I powered both off and back on and it seemed to be OK but I only did 5 rounds then set it aside. I have a case feeder for the Dillon 650 but I don't have a stand to attach it to so I have not figured out how I am going to solve that problem. Like Mr. F Class John, I have hand issues so any automation I can get is welcome.

They did send me some switch that I have not set up that IIRC is related to checking if the case was ejected to avoid annealing it over and over again.

Edit: They have a program to upgrade the firmware, which I ran on the AMP machine and the AMP Mate. You should be able to get it from their website.

Yeah they did some of those updates to the firmware while I was working with my unit and communicating with them. The updates did help with a couple things but it’s such a strange intersection of issues that fixing one thing has an impact on another that makes one thing better and another worse until it all comes into alignment.

Creedmoor sports sells a stand for the Dillon Case feeder:

I ordered the new AMP Mate on Dec 18 directly from AMP. So if you ordered from them I would say it is the latest version.
