Delrin rod for range emergencies

I have a small pair of drop rods I think I bought from Sinclair years ago. I've used the bigger one twiste in 20 odd years but it works the very best.

Acetal Rod | Natural

Acetal rod is a tough, stable engineering thermoplastic. Also consider delrin plastic tube.

^^^ This right here! it is much more dense than Derlin or wood and works much better.

A shooter in the past from my range used a brass rod. Then forgot it was in the barrel only 6" long.
Lost an eye on the next shot. Better to have something very long U cannot avoid its notice.

I use a small brass rod cut to about 6" in length. They are sold at Ace hardware stores for a few bucks.

going with a short rod has its advantages over a longer one, but you had better make sure you don't leave it in the bore before firing the next shot. I has been done and the person I know of did not live to tell the story.

Given how many times I've seen and heard of people firing a shot behind one of the "in the barrel" boresighters, I don't know that a long rod will be that much of a deterrent, unless you put some sort of large flared handle on it (which is actually a pretty good idea.)

Dang how hard you jammin those bullets?! When it has happened to me a light tap on a wooden dowel worked just fine.
