Defiance Deviant pre-fit barrel question

Ok folks, I just ordered a new Deviant action and am making preps for the build and I know this may be sacrilegious, but can the Remington Pre-fit barrels be used on them. I am pretty sure they can be used on the Rebel. The main difference that I see that could affect this would be that the integral Pic rail is threaded. This will work great for the primary barrels, but I was thinking of a 300WSM varminter with something like a 1-17/18" pre-fit. My reasoning for a pre-fit here is that the barrel life wouldn't be too long, and $350 is a lot better for a 1k round barrel life expectancy than a gunsmithed $550 one. No offense meant to any smiths out there, I realize that a pre-fit won't be the same quality or as likely to be supremely accurate.
Well, what do you think will they work?
Thanks for the help with this one.

The thread pitch on Defiance medium actions is 1 1/16 - 16 just like a Remington. But, most Remington "pre-fit" barrels require a gunsmith to do the final fitting work by pushing the shoulder back to the proper headspace. In other words, the chamber has been done, the threading has been done, but the breech to shoulder depth is left .010 -.020 short for final fitting. This means you need a lathe to finish the job: hence the need for a gunsmith. It would certainly be possible to create a barrel nut like Savage does, but most Remington pre-fits do not have a barrel nut and require the gunsmith to finish. Since dialing the barrel in for that final shoulder push can take some time, don't be surpised if you get charged $100 for the work. Make sense?

Savage prefits are really popular because they do it in a way that does not require a gunsmith for final fitting: they use a barrel nut which allows the customer to set the final headspace. All you need is a go gauge and you can do this yourself. As mentioned, most Remington "pre-fits do not work this way. Now, if you can find a Remington barrel that uses a barrel nut, go for it.

Criterion barrels does this. They call them "Remage" I believe. Talk to Jim Briggs at Northland Shooters Supply, pretty sure he has them and the barrel nut to go with it.

Yes, sorry I forgot they sold them without barrel nuts. I would be interested in what anyone thought about one with a barrel nut working on the action with the threaded integral recoil lug. I know it wouldn't win any beauty contests, but would the prefit be threaded far enough down the barrel shank to screw all the way to where it needed to be?

Yes it would as there is no shoulder. The nut from Jim is 28.00 and the barrel is around 275.00 Here is Jims number 1-763-682-4296

Thanks for the info guys. I talked with Jim from Northland today and what they have will work, and they will have them in stock real soon. They already have a lot in, just not the particular barrel I am looking for. It would throw this plan off if you were to get the extended tenon version however, so anyone considering this, keep that in mind.
