Deep Creek Missoula March 28th-29th 1000 yard IBS Matchs will be canceled

You are far away from the glut of the problem but still following IBS guidelines. Probably good as it will keep travelers from bad areas out and away from you.

Kind of a long distance social isolation. Hope you get going for later shoots.

Notice of cancellation to those concerned, our March 28th-29th 1000 Yard IBS match will be canceled & we will prepare for our April 11th - 12th match. Until then I wish everyone good health be well.

Shawn Williams
Thanks Shawn.

Amazing how easily we've been turned into sheep. Looking forward to 2021 I guess. Wish everyone that was scared of a cold would've just stayed home instead of putting pressure on shawn. See y'all next year if we live through this cold.

Tom.. How much is one life worth ? This coronavirus is real. people ARE dying from it. It is not a cold. Shawn made the right call.

Which Deep Creek competitor are you? We've always taken our core members opinions very seriously.

Priceless of course, to answer your question. Hotels are closed, restaurants are closed. Obviously attendance would have been low. But those 12-15 of us that drag our campers out, and stay isolated in them wouldn't be at any greater risk than any other daily routine. I go to work every day because I have to eat, I'm exposed to humans.....I have the freedom of choice to stay home and starve. We can't hold the grocery store accountable if we contract the China virus from another customer. I just don't see it as a big risk, in our local/unique situation....and you have the freedom of choice to stay home, and no one would think any less of you.

Sharing some facts.

Over 10% of people over 80, and over 5% of those over 70 succumb to this Covid-19 virus.

Additionally over 80% of those folks carrying the virus, do not know they have it. They think they have a cold or allergies.

At the range I shoot at most frequently, there are lots of folks older than 70. I would estimate the average age at our matches to be in the mid 60’s.

I may be wrong, however I believe these matches that are being cancelled are not about the young healthy folks who are bullet proof as much as it is about the generation who taught us how to shoot.

In Colorado, our Governor has banned all activities inside or outdoors that have 10 or more in attendance. I suspect many other states to do the same in the coming days.

Some states believe the peak in Covid-19 cases in their state is still 6-8 weeks out.

Remember, this may be as much about our older shooters as anyone else.
I still have a lot to learn, lets keep ‘em around.

I know exactly what your saying. But, I do not need a governor to tell me what to do either. I trust my brain more than theirs. If you live around, or are in contact with high risk folks you should act accordingly. A little bit of fear and people cant give up their liberties fast enough.

Exactly!!!!

But Providence Montana Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Josh Christiansen offered a sobering prediction.

“This is not if this is coming. It’s coming. We will have a lot of sick patients at some point,” Christiansen said.

Christiansen says his team at Missoula’s St. Pat’s and other local partners are learning a lot from colleagues in Seattle. He says they’re doing everything possible locally to prepare for a worst case scenario.

“We’re really aggressively trying to stay on top of this,” Christiansen said. “This is going to be, I think, I’ll be honest, a life changing event for all of us. I think ultimately we as a state and a nation are going to be ok, but it’s going to be a rough, potentially prolonged period that we’re dealing with this.”

03/20/20 4:45 p.m.

Montana Gov. Steve Bullock announced this morning that beginning at 8 p.m. tonight all dine-in food service, bars and other recreational businesses will close for a week to combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a press call last hour, Bullock also confirmed a new case out of Madison County and another from Lewis and Clark County. Two new cases were also announced in Flathead county, which included one county resident.

"It's evident that it is in both urban and rural areas of our state, so a uniform closure order seemed to me and after consulting with others, most protective to human health and most likely to flatten the curve of spreading along the way."

The closure order for restaurants, cafes, breweries, cigar bars, movie theaters, gyms, music halls and other indoor recreational facilities is in effect until March 27, the same day school closures are set to expire, though that date could be pushed back. Food delivery and grab and go service are still available. Several Montana county health departments issued similar local closure orders this week.

Most folks I have talked to are not happy about their Governors flexing their muscle. Here is CO, the masses want to toss our Governor out! However most understand these are not normal times and most folks are happy they are not in the "hot-seat" having to make those decisions.

Clay,

Maybe you could spend this "down time" figuring out why they still haven't sent out record certificates for 2019. Rather than opining about a club that you've never once came and supported a match at.

I have no idea what record certificates you are talking about Tom? Something happen recently that I should be aware of, or is this old news?"

I never once offered my opinion about the Deep Creek Club, nor would I. I did share information as to why this virus is a bit more dangerous than some of the comments on this thread would otherwise indicate.

Sure would love to agree with most of you on this. Just like the Spring Breakers partying on the beach, it's all about them and their freedoms. Unfortunately, they eventually have to go back home.

All contacts going, at the event and returning have to be considered. It is those contacts that pass on and fester the problem. They are unavoidable contacts, good intentions or not. Unavoidable and dangerous contacts spread the problem to others. So many of the "others" are horribly sick or dead from those good intentions. Then more pass on the problem to more "others".

Doubt any of us like it. Doubt any of us want to be part of the problem. Unfortunately you are either part of the problem or part of the solution. You may not like ether choice but that is the reality of our situation. Please respect those that want to be part of the solution no matter how negative it is for you.
