I used to live a couple miles down from the top of Macdonald Pass, on the East side. The elevation was 5280' give or take, depending on which map you read. My folks would come out every summer, usually at the end of July/first of August. Dad would always P&M about how hot it was, and how he suffered driving all the way from Syracuse in it. The morning of August 2nd, in the late 1980s or early 1990s, we woke up to 2"-3" of fresh snow. I couldn't resist asking him all day long if he was cool enough, or if he wanted to make a snow man, etc. He left the next day.I've seen it snow every month in Montana except August.
By the way, it is 20 degrees and snowing right now in the Helena valley.
