December 7 -- Day to Remember

Well John,

I do remember hearing of it as a pre-schooler----and not understanding it for a while.

I also remember Americans coming together with true patriotism----in all
aspects of our lives.

Our military people who came home were met with pride and respect----as opposed to later on when they came home to be spat upon. Those who didn't come home---and their families---were remembered with great respect.

My reaction to the present and future-----what the the hell happened ?

My concern-----will our great nation survive what's being thrown at it ?

God Bless America !

A. Weldy

Greetings,
My grandfather was a Lt JG aboard the USS St Louis, CL-49. He was the on duty, Officer of the deck when the attack took place. His ship was one of the three that made it to sea. During the war, they took a torpedo to the bow and a kamikaze strike.
They were the greatest generation.

So sad, today there are few who remember what any of these significant day actually are.
Dec. 7th,1941, June 6th,1944, May 8th,1945, Sept 2, 1945.
You can throw in a bunch more , and few of the youths asked today would know what they are.
Sad, wonder what they actually teach in civics/history classes these days!

Nailed them all. I’ll add another, August 6, 1945. Which also happens to be the day I was born.

My grandpa was on the USS Phoenix that day, it's kinda hard to imagine the thoughts that went through their minds pulling out of the harbor seeing the mass destruction and their fellow seaman that weren't as fortunate.
Never forget any of our service members that served so we can enjoy the freedom of the greatest country on earth.
