Deburring Lapua Brass

I do. You do not want a burr to push the bullet you are seating off to one side.

If you are talking about the case mouth, we recommend, before first firing, that you run an expander into the neck to make sure they are round, and then do a very light inside debur before seating bullets. Then, if you trim the case, you should de-bur the inside and outside of the mouth. But be gentle -- you do NOT need to remove a lot of brass.

If you are talking about uniforming the primer pocket -- some people like to do this. I have not found it to be necessary with Lapua 6mmBR brass.

Some lots have an occasional flake at the flash hole. You can remove this with a pick tool or, as I do, with a long #1 center drill. As Forum Boss said, "be gentle." Just remove what is necessary.

Deburring Lapua Brass/champhering case mouths

Shaun,,bak in 09 I purchased 300 Lapua 6mmBR brass,,,,My chamber has a no turn .271 nk,,,I ran em all thru a nk bushing type S die to round the necks and then de-buurrd the case mouthes (in and out) I checked the primer pokets,flash holes, and they were all good,,,I primed em (fed.205's)and charged em with my Culver powder measure (Rx-15..cant give st pt) and loaded em with Berger 105 VLD's (not weighed/sorted/measured in any way) and flew to CA for the Nationals...I set a NBRSA --3 target record --nuff said--Roger

I have found that a illuminated magnifying loupe is a must for looking inside the cases. You can't fix what you can't see well.

We have a store in the city called michaels. They cater to sewing and crafts. The brand I have is a carson. Ask the sewing crowd in your area where to look.

absolutely. In addition to what's been posted, it also feeds your bullet straighter and easier into the case mouth.

And the "run a mandrel" down the neck first is good advice, as I had to find out the hard way. Not Lapua brass, but still very discontent to see unever chamfer with my Wilson trimmer w. chamfer-tool. Of course, it could be off-centre necks too, but the mandrel thing seems to have taken care of it (different lot of brass however).
