That ought to start a spirited conversation.....;)

Who makes a kick @$$ bottom metal for a S/A Defiance action?

Is it push button or flapper style mag. release??

I`m leaning twords the push button style,if I get a solid recommendation on one.

Phil.

Which mag cut is in your Phoenix/Defiance action-Rem BDL?

APA American Precision Arms in GA.
ambidextrous, contoured mag release to trigger guard bow.
machined for Jewell trigger groups.

H-S Precision if you want idiot proof.

I used a PT&G, on sale at Midway for $125 at the time, and it works flawlessly under a Remmy 700 action.

+1 on the APA. I use one with a Kelbly Tactical action with AICS mags, it feeds my 6 Dasher flawlessly with no mods.

Ive used Badger, Surgeon, PTG, and APA. By far I like the APA the best. Expecially if you carry your rifle on your back or strapped to a Kifaru pack for any length of time. APA really hit a home run if you ask me.

APA makes a very nice DBM, the magazine well fits flush to the bottom of the stock and the magazine release can be used either side on the trigger guard that is incorporated into it. I am using one on a Kelbly Kodiac repeater build. I also like the Surgeon DBM and Stillers DBM alot also.

Have four Surgeon DBMs, three PTG DBMs, and one Defiance (Black Ops) DBM.
The only reason I have the PTG ones are they are one of few who makes DBM for a Rem Seven action.

The quality of the other two are far superior, with better finish and nice radius on all the edges.
The ambi release of the Surgeon is in the right spot, and the Defiance DBM has a 'push button' that is unobtrusively located & very handy to use.
Both also offer good protection for the magazine, and a front 'wall' for use as a contact point for positional shooting.

On a straight hunting rig, I think an APA would be a very nice unit to run, especially if trying to maintain a more 'traditional' look. Very slick & well designed!

I got a GREAT combo deal on my Defiance LA DBM when I got my action direct from them. Dunno if they still have any available for SA??? Google search for "Black Ops DBM", that's the one I have

As you can see, its very 'Surgeon-esque' in ergos, with the exception of the protected mag release button. Also, notice there's a small spring loaded mechanism at the rear of the magwell that keeps a slight amount of tension on the magazine to keep it from 'rattling'. Pretty cool little feature...

Surgeon DBM, for reference...
