Dave Kiff

Guys,

I don't know what is going on, but all the emails are not getting thru to the custom reamer end.

What is the most current Phone number for Dave at the custom reamer shop?

The one I have is not current or seem to work.

Tia,
Don

He's at Pacific Tool & Gauge. Talked with him last week to order a reamer.

Well, I can tell you they are less customer oriented than they used to be! Ordered a reamer, Jan 21 15, , had immediate problem cost was listed as 148.00 + shipping, they billed credit card for 194.00, called talked to April she said web site was incorrect, and reamer was custom grind and would take about 10 weeks instead of the customary 6-8 weeks. I said thats ok, I still want the reamer. The web site still has not been fixed to reflect the correct pricing and I called at just over 10 weeks and April said it was in the mitsubishi shop for final finishing, and would ship later in the week, This reamer is supposed to be delivered tomorrow! In the future I will be considering other reamer companys, before ordering anything from them again?

I've ordered from them on three occasions. They have never made a delivery date commitment. I'm not going to take the time to detail the trials and tribulations, but most have been missed by months.

I currently have an award certificate in there for a bottom metal that I won at the BSWN, sent the cert in over a month ago, followed up with an email, still have heard nothing.

I haven't had a problem when I call and place an order.

I have limited experience with PTG, but it has been very good. I called several time to talk about custom reamers, spoke to Dave once, he is a pleasure to speak with. So much knowledge it made my head spin. Anyways, they emailed me prints quickly, and when I ordered a reamer and headspace gauge it arrived the next week, as scheduled. PTG is good to go in my book.

I'm here every day usual on the phone working up a competition , Surgical Sniper or precise hunting reamer print up . Sometimes I run to the other two shops to put out a fire but most of the time like now I'm creating a print with five call back slips on my desk . I will call back as fast as I can but being on Pacific Standard Time some times 4:30 PM my time is 7:30 back east so I get a lot of answering machines or dead rings . There are many emails here which yield thousands of emails . If you email me at dave@kifftool.com you will get me daily, if not it will be as all the emails get sorted . if you are looking for a order or one fell between the cracks then call Steve,Yvette or Jessica because the usually have answers and a shipment date quickly. The regular Sales department has 12 guys and gals on line and 3 on the on-line sales taking a order every 33 seconds . Remember if we Don't have the Reamer, Gauge or part on the shelf we offer a 48 hour service or Shiraz and Grizzly stock thousands of Pacific Tool & Gauge products and so does Midway USA . Well got to run no time for the keyboard as I have Customers to call back and Firearms Manufacturing Engineers to create cutting tools for . Thanks for your valuable time , Thanks again Dave Kiff

I have 10 or more reamers made. Never have I had a problem with Dave. He gave me a date when they would be delivered and it was never late. If I had a problem I would call Dave first.
If it wasn't corrected I wouldn't order any more.
But I wouldn't bad mouth him on here.
(Never burn you bridges behind you.) Some here don't Care Thanks Dave Larry

Thanks Dave,

I have a call back waiting on the desk,
You can tear it up, as I just need a reamer print for the 280 AI, that uses the Redding die set.

Have sent a email with the spec's, to save you some time etc.

Thank you,
Don

Savagedasher,
I find that you think that this is badmouthing someone, based on something that did not happen to you! I was merely stating that their customer service was simply not what it used to be! When I email someone that charged me for an item thats is 38.00 more than the website said it should cost, and then was lied to in a phone conversation, is absolutely no way to handle customer service! I represented a major builder in major city, and if I had lied to a customer like this person did I would have been fired! Heres a saying I received during traing and it holds true for every company no matter what you do, make,or sell! "The customer may not always be right, but they are always the customer and without them you don't have a job"!

My response wasn't for you sorry . Larry

I have ordered over a dozen reamers , some of them custom, and various tools and parts.
I guess I am just lucky....
no issues

Buddy that's a gunsmith just sent me a text message. He just chambered a barrel with a custom ordered reamer from ptg. Reamers throat was .100 longer than the reamer print it was sent with. Waited several months on the reamer and now has a ruined barrel to go with it, a 180 hybrid won't even stay in the neck when touching lands.

Pretty hard for a average guy to measure the throat length on a reamer !!!!!
I know I don't have that ability...

Maybe he should have checked that before he used it.

Always a good practice to inspect tools before using them, especially new tools...

Barrel isn't ruined. It's nothing to cut it back far enough to re-chamber when he gets the reamer corrected to the proper length.
[/quote]

How exactly would he have done that.... If I drop a reamer off at my smith's shop and tell him he should run it into a barrel stub first to ensure its cut proper his first reaction would be to hand me my reamer back..

It is not ruined. It still can be salvaged with a new reamer which I'm sure he'll get.

I wish everyone would give Dave Kiff a break. Do any of you realize the plethora of tooling and parts that his company makes. They started out small and as demand grew they grew. The make a dizzying array of stuff now. Stuff that everyone wanted. There are going to be mistakes made by his company as all other companies that are working hard to keep up with commitments.

I honestly do not know how they keep up as well as they do. They are trying hard to satisfy an industry where everyone is an expert and demands their stuff right now preferably for free.

cheers :)
