Daughter has a different way of shooting groups.

I've been a little slow at getting my little girl shooting for a lot of different reasons. We had daddy daughter day with the new to me (her rifle but she doesn't know it yet) Tikka 223. I haven't loaded anything specific for it yet but let her shoot some of my AR's coyote loads in the T3 today. The rifle doesn't like them very much and was only shooting 1.5" at 100yds. What I found unique was that she shot two 3-shot groups (at the same target) and basically punched the holes of the first group with her second group. I just thought it was neat and I've never seen it before, had to share.

Hey Jason,
That is neat and more important I am glad you are taking the time to spend time with her, did you get any pics? I have a lot of fond memories when my kids started out shooting :)

I got some pics and a couple videos too. She thinks the gong is more exciting than punching paper. I needed to be working on the dasher but it isn't very often that we have free time at the the same time.

well post them then please, I love watching kids have fun and learning, were too old and stubborn to learn but kids can still listen ;)

My daughter used to come with me just to be on the line since she thought the range was the coolest place on earth. Once she found out that she could see the bullets fly through the air then she loved the spotting scope and calling shots. With lots of people to visit with and all the attention she would get at the matches it wasn't hard to get her to go with me. I just had to keep her stocked up on microwave popcorn!!!
I walk her down the Isle in a few months and wish she was still a kid hanging with dad at the range.

Yep, it's nice when we hang out. She's 12 already and I haven't been very good at getting her out. She's always doing something it seems, a lot of it is watching her 5 year old sister. She gets hosed into being a full time babysitter a lot of the time, then her mom is always dragging her off to do this or that. I tried to get her into some shooting when she was around 7, but she wouldn't listen to me. Now she's at least listening to me and actually her groups weren't really any bigger than mine were after I looked a little closer. I barely started on a 75 amax load for it, it will actually shoot. I need someone who knows how to modify these magazines to make it bigger for me. This is a pic we took on the way home last night, she was pretty excited.

The videos are not working. I can't get them to go.

My older daughter's been shooting 500 yard F-Class since she was 11. I started her on an old AR flat top I had, but the barrel gave up. When I worked a deal for a Tikka T3 for her she was not happy at first - She really liked that flat top. I got the Tikka for not much more than a new spacegun barrel. She likes it now that I set up the rifle to fit her (removes butt stock shims, raised the comb, and put her scope on it). I have yet to test hand loads, but I measured the OAL with a Stoney Point and it is pretty short in ours.... 80 SMK touches at 2.430", and a 77 SMK touches at 2.308".... It shoots mag length Black Hill 75 HDY re-manufactured good enough to easily hold the 10 ring of a SR3c from 500 yards in no wind and might come close to holding the x ring... We are just now starting on learning the black art of wind reading.....

As to modifying the magazine to lengthen the OAL it will accept, check Here: http://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/4799827/Re_Tikka_T3_223_Magazine_Modif I wouldn't use the aluminum channel as this guy suggests. I would probably just fill it solid with bedding compound or 2 part epoxy. I'm personally going to make a replacement follower to make single round feeding easier.
