Dasher w/107 SMK loads

made a quick trip to the range the other day with a friend to test my dasher with the 107 SMKs. No real development just used my 108 Berger load (32.5 Varget ) and 2 of the 5 shot groups were in the low 2s. It was very cold, we only shot 20 rounds.
Might be my new bullet of choice!
Anyone using 107s that would care to share success and loads?

I shot the 107 SMK's to win score at the 2008 IBS 1,000 yd Missouri State Championship.
Still shoot them along with the 115 DTAC in the Dasher.

Birdog, what velocity are you getting in your dasher with the dtacs? I just started shooting a dasher and was wondering about the 115s.

I ran them over 3000 for 1000 yard BR. They shoot good and some guys at Williamsport are shooting them. You need a fast twist to shoot the 115. In BR they never did that great. Matt

I shoot in 600 yard competitions mostly and the 107 is the best bullet I have used so far and it's much easier to develop than Bergers. I have a Krieger 4 groove .237 8 twist barrel at 29". I run the 107 jammed in .020. I started off using 32.8 of R15 with CCI450's which is the lower node which you are at. There is a higher node you can get to as well. Start around 33.5gr if your using Varget and BR4's. You should have no problem finding it between 33.5-34gr. This would be the top end for Varget so pay attention. They should be flying a little over 3100. That same node will be between 34.2-34.8 or so with R15 and the 450's but still less pressure than Varget.

Thanks all.
Went out yesterday to try the 107's at mid-range, thaw is here, muddy, wet, darn good day!
Shot 6, five shot groups, they averaged 2.525 @ 600 yards. Did not hold for wind which was 3-5 with gusts to 8 left to right. Not sure if this is enough to be competive in f-class or not however the SMK did their part.

Dasher 30" 1:8, 107 SMK, 32.5 Norma 203-B, Wolf SRM, jump 25. Had to measure each to get seating depth accurate as SMK's vary LTO measurement. Very accurate, made LR Master (Sling).

I measured base to ogive on this box of 107's,
87 were 1.696
6 were 1.697
7 were 1.695
This seems fairly consistent, did I get lucky?

Compared to my box of 500, yes. Although, I have found that most SMK's vary in LTO, maybe Sierra is uping their quality control. BTW, mine were pointed by Sierra too. I don't shoot Hornady's much, but Berger and JLK were the most consistent out of the box.

Thanks all.

Ahh no, that group is not competitive and you would do well to stay out of Missouri we hate to see those small ass groups shot here, makes us all look bad. LOL

I have always been able to make my 6BRX shoot 107 MK's but grew weary of spending the winter sorting many boxes of them into way to many piles for the shooting season. I have switched toEPS 106's. They are extremely consistent in both weight and ogive length. I just load them out of the box now. Just started a new lot and only had to adjust my seating die .001 and load. They cost more than Match Kings but my time is worth more to me.
