Dasher lead

Are there any ideas yet as to what the freebore should be using the
New Berger 105gr Hybrids?
I have a standard Br, at its last, and want to do my new one
A Dasher.

I am using .104 in my 6brx and I am not sure what my dasher is as it was already chambered but here is a link from Robert Whitley's site that might help.

I spoke to Bryan Litz about this very issue for a 6 BRDX build. He said the the extra length of the Hybrid is "all in the nose and boat-tail so the freebore for the 105 VLD should work fine for the 105gr Hybrid."

I'm thinking of going with 0.120. Bryan says he expects that in many barrels the Hybrid may work best jumped .020 or more. Keep that in mind...

The BRDX has a longer neck than the Dasher so I will have some more flexibility. I want to keep the end of the bearing surface above the neck shoulder junction even if I jump the Hybrids.

I just had PTG make me a dasher reamer .271 neck with .060 freebore for the 70-75 grain varmint boattail bullets and lapua blue box brass.
Now I've gotta scrounge up a 12 twist bbl.

Forum boss,
Why do you want to keep the bearing surface above the neck
& shoulder junction? Is this for more case capacity or something
To do about accuracy?

Have tested the new 105's Hybrids in my Dasher, I can tell you that a .125 freebore works perfectly. IMO, the standard .104 freebore is too short fo 105/107/108's..it seat to much bullet below the neck/shoulder junction.

Dave,
When I decided to go with a 6brx I called Kiff and told him what bullet's I planned on using, either 105 vld's or 107 SMK's and that I wanted to lightly clean the necks on the new blue box Lapua brass he ground me a reamer with a .269 neck and .104 free bore, I am happy with the neck diameter but wished it had about another .010 or so f/b. Insistently I went with the 107 SMK's I would have thought the .125 that Jim is running would be to much but maybe not, your running a dasher aren't you? what free bore are you running and do you think it's the right amount as I think I am going to have him build me another reamer for the 107's since I have so many of them, if I am able to obtain a couple thousand 103 Spencers I will change my mind again of course :)

I have my gunsmith throat my Dashers for the 115's and the bearing
surface is well above the neck-shoulder junction. The 107's also shoot
well in this same barrel. A throating tool lets you have all the free bore
you want which is a good thing. Also gives more powder capacity.
