Daisy eaters die under fire...

A most excellent thread, thanks for sharing your hunt with us.Love the rifles
glad you could fireform those cases properly.Your cartridge choices seem up to the task:)

Thanks gents, its fun share this stuff!
Man, PB is really slow/crappy.
Next time out, think I'll bring the HD camcorder and start compiling clips. Maybe string them all together after a while & make a proper u-tube video?

Well, got up out over the weekend!
Man, all that rain grew the fields up over a foot higher than we left them!!!
Trying to get any solo video woulda been a fool's errand, so I took a walk with Daisy Flame. Grabbed my trusty tripod and the Geovids, and headed for a stroll down the tractor path...
Surprisingly, the rolling field betrayed a brown head popping up over knee high grass! Set the tripod up, locked the .223AI in and got ready...

That sucker took one in the back of the brain bucket @ 100 yds...easy chip shot. And look at how tall the grass is! Took me longer to find that chuck in the grass, than it did to shoot it...

As I was high-steppin' it back to the path, noticed a second coconut bean tucked in the bladed green jungle. This one about 150yds. Same exact damage from the 75Amax as the first few, makes a nice exit hole! And yep, still fireforming... :)

Called it a day right there, and headed back for supper with the neighbors. Drove back to the farm thru that pretty rolling country with a cigar hangin' from the corner of a big grin...truly blessed to have days like these! And even more blessed for the kindness & grace of good friends... :)

Videos next time, I promise!

P.S.
In case you noticed, swapped a 5-25x56 on top of Daisy Flame, might shoot some matches with that rifle this summer. Got a hummer of a load with formed brass, just need to chrono it...

two to three weeks fredo...they cut late up there. I will get someone on the ground to call me when they do it.

Finally got back up to God's country! Fields are belt high in most places, but one was chopped. Grabbed the daisy flame .223AI along and did a quick walkabout. Secured a 'double' at one mound, the 75Amax stacked em atop each other...

And another quicky made three. <200yd shots, all 'snerted' with fireform loads :)

Saw a few more popping on the horizon, but had chores to finish so left 'em for later. Will drag the vid-cam out and make an afternoon of it next time, I promise!

Farmers called me. Hay off, get cracking boys. Ten on one day last week. Gotta love this time of year. The best practice for deer hunting, ever. :D

Once the 40 day flood ends in NY Fredo should have a time of it. i drove all across lower part of NY on weekend and there was ONE field cut from Binghamton to Erie. grass up to yer butt everywhere and rain every day.

Fa' real!!!
Grass grew so fast at the house that I blew the deck belt off the mower while trying to whack it. And some local farmers couldn't get all their corn planted due to saturated fields...they're having to rotate onto different crops...

Good thing ya can still target these babies, regardless of how high the grass is!!!

You never told me you had a bass pond up there! It looks like flyrod heaven. I am bringing my long 3wt next time and some poppers.
