Daisy eaters die under fire...

...from Daisy camo'ed rifles!

Met up with my main man snert for a couple hours of chuckin. First time out for both of us, and really enjoyed it! Despite it being rather chilly & overcast, we did manage 5 chucks...
The Sun did almost manage to break thru for a spell and all of a sudden, it seemed like the entire green field we were scanning literally turned yellow before our eyes! All those daisy dandelions sprouting made for a real pretty sight...

Good thing the both of us had our "daisy camo" chuckin rifles at the ready!!!

That is snert's dandy .22PPC on a 40x. I was fireforming 223AI brass with 75Amaxs, and they did a bang up job. Forget the cream-o-wheat crap, THIS is how ya fireform brass! One less daisy eater...

And this one got a major frontal "snert" in the mug, it's head felt like a bag of broken seashells...

Got a couple shots on video, but my bucket isn't cooperating to post em.
Anyhoo, thanks to P for meeting up, he is the consummate gentleman! Sure looking forward to a fun season of chuck whacking, and hope to get together again soon...

P.S. Do not underestimate the power of "daisy camo"!

I have to chime in. Fredo has been a true gentleman and friend. It has been a pleasure meeting him, hunting with him, sharing stories. I think (by the looks of me) this was one of the toughest days I had in years. It was good to have a positive, thoughtful hunting partner to help me get my mind off difficulties and onto chucks.

To give credit, the 22PPC is actually a Superior Rifle, and was smithed by Fred Sinclair years ago. Fine shooter. However, I was so jumpy this day I could not even hold it tight on a chuck, so I shot Fredo's fine Defiance and appreciated that 16X scope. My 24 was like trying to look thru a keyhole that day.

I have to say those .224 75 grain Vmax sure do make an impression. I have been old school...fast 22's and 14 twist with 50-55 grain standard bullets. Fredo has helped me move into this century and it was a true pleasure to hand over my fields to his care as I moved from NY. This way I know when I return for visits my farmers will be welcoming, my fields well managed and relationships there still strong. It is good to have a trustworthy partner.

Good looking rifles and nice paint on the stocks.
What is the graphic in the rifle on the right? Sorry working from smart phone..
What type of shooting set up? Bench, prone etc?
Well done..

The graphic is a hound dog. This rifle is "Ol' Yeller 3rd", one that Fred S. campaigned and his bride painted in the early 80's.

Most of the shooting this day was bipod or off a bag. Fredo did hammer one off hand and I was impressed, and the chuck more so. Usually this farm has some very long shots up to 650 yards and we set up a bench, but this day was slow and the chucks were close, so we just plopped down and hammered them. The PPC is a bench or Ultimate tripod only gun. It does not work well prone!!

You guys are lucky to have great places to shoot a lot of chucks at long range, wish it was like that here but it's not :(

Great job!!! Love to see them chucks napping ;):D:D

Thanks all! And to P...
I will take good care! The chucks will be there when you can return! And you can crash at the farm, after some fish sammichs and Mt. Dew...

Fredo,

That 223AI must kick like a mule, look at the size of that muzzle brake.......;);););)

 You ain't kidding, Phil!

It's an Impact Precision brake, and was already installed when I bought that barreled action. Needless to say, impacts are visible thru the scope!

The daisy flame camo was all me though, and I take full responsibility for that foolishness...:)

With those rifles they should have uttered those famous words "Ave Imperator, morituri te salutant"? :p:D

Hail Emperor those who are about to die salute you!

I like it. But the hogs just said "What the heck was that"? And why am I so cold all of a sudden...

Snert & fredo
Great to see you got out and busted a few, and enjoyed your trip, good to see the ground handed to a dedicated hogger ,
Thank you for sharing we all appreciated it,
Fredo thank you for putting in the time and effort to post !! Hope you can manage a video.
