Daily poll

Maybe this is nit picking or maybe considered anal but, there is a poll entitled "Select your favorite caliber" that appears on the right side of the screen. This is a pet peeve of mine but the word caliber is misused so much, it drives me crazy. On a dedicated gun site of all places, the question should read "Select your Favorite Cartridge".
Another word usage that makes my skin crawl is "reloading". I prefer to use "handloading". The connotation of reloading makes it seem that it is something less than the finest piece of ammunition that you can use in your gun. Handloading brings to mind, handmade, something special.
I hope you understand where I'm coming from on this post.

gunamonth, Thanks for understanding the tenor of my post and your measured, intelligent response. I can't say I'm irritated at all, it's more the fact that on a shooter's site such as this it's a little surprising that they can't get it right. It's more indicative of the dumbing down I guess.
I've been handloading for at least 40 years. In all that time I have striven to produce the best ammunition I could. Reading on the internet, I'm amazed at the folks that want to plink with their "reloads" but buy "premium" ammunition when they want to get serious. Makes me want to shake my head.

I've made the change. JMV is correct, favorite "cartridge" is better than favorite "caliber". Of course we know that, as indicated that we have our "Cartridge Guides".

Sometimes there is no other explanation than I made a mistake when working late or in a hurry. I appreciate the tips to make something better, because there's no one to "proof" my work--I'm the one guy doing ALL the coding on the site.

And you do a great job!!! I know what it's like trying to juggle so many balls at once. More than anything, thanks for not taking offense to my post. It wasn't meant to be mean spirited, just to point out something that bothers me.
6mmBR is one of my favorite sites and probably the most informative. My 1st visit convinced me to go with a 6BR. When it comes to guns, I'm a KISS type of person and the 6BR fills the bill in that area for me. I always come back here to see what others are doing and contribute info whenever I can. Thanks again! John

The worst of the worst are those that call a "bullet" a "tip" they refer to 230 grain 45 caliber tips.

Now that will drive me bonkers in short order and its a short trip!

What kills me, is when someone comes up at the range asking what 'bullet' I'm shooting. I say '139Lapua', and they ask again, then give up. I know they mean cartridge, but I can neither fix them, nor promote their problems.

The same goes on daily -right here, with the term 'DANZAC'.
WS2 is not DANZAC, never was, never will be. DANZAC was WS2 way back, as many similar products were moly.
The misuse of this term is perpetuated here, and every now & then some poor soul struggling to find DANZAC, asks on forums for it's source. I feel for him.

It also seems many, many shooters cannot distinguish WSM from WSSM. These are people who load and shoot firearms! Scary..

I think it all comes down to attention to details.
