Da blues

Sitting here in Central New York State at the end of March. Beautiful day, nice sunshine and an easy breeze.

Would like to be shooting????

I would like to complain about not getting my orders from Bruno's, Powder Valley, Sinclair's and Kelbly's. But, I cannot complain at all, all of my orders have come in, brass, powder, primers, bullets, dies, barrels, wind flags and all the good stuff to go shooting. Oh, and the orders have been filled and shipped all in a decent time frame, imagine that!

What I am whining about is having had shoulder surgery to repair torn tendons and bones shaved in my right shoulder which is my shooting shoulder! So the next 4 months I can sit and look at all those goodies and wish I could be shooting!

What the hell, life is good!

HAD THE SAME SURGERY some few years ago, and decieded to shoot lefty for a while, Ihmsa, pd, etc.

you can do it, no need to change equipment, just adjustl

Shoulder that thing left handed.....unless you have tried it and it doesn't work at all for you.

I remember having to shoot off hand drills in the Service, it let me know I could, it's not that impossible to get use to and way better than watching the grass grow!

Second week after surgery, still unable to drag around 13 lb rifle and front rest, but can handle everything else reloading wise. Just a beautiful day and sitting home, doctor will not release me to drive or work yet, climbing walls going stir crazy. Thanks for the encouragement, was going to start shooting competitions this year, got all the gear and just waiting to use it!

Tony:
I feel your pain. Had rotator cuff surgery a few years back on my shooting shoulder and know the feeling just sitting and waiting. Try doing some dry firing if you can to practice trigger control and breathing. At least you will be working on basics and fundamentals that often cost us in a match due to lack of practice. Just a suggestion to help kill the boredom.

I am in the same CNY weather (ok, just what hour did you go out and see the sun in anyhow, becuase till today, I missed that!) :D And right after Resurrection Day I am heading in for a back surgery that will take me out for 3 months, maybe up to 6. I just finished sizing 1700 308 brass and washing 15K of 40SW, getting ready for a long summer of puttering about. Bullets are backordered, primers...what are those? and no matter, I will be happy if the Doc cuts the right parts and leaves the right parts and it all heals up and I can walk.

Til then I guess I sit in a chair and cast my fly rod in the lawn. But, LIFE is good and God is good. And maybe I will catch one of those nice days soon!

Snert,

Only referring to today, was nice for a change. Good luck on the back surgery!

I have all my brass prepped, been ordering stuff since December and only have 1 order left to come in, but have everything needed to go shoot.

Life is still good!

Get out the rimfire and practice fundamentals and wind reading. Might as well be productive in the down time.
22lr or 17HMR won't bother the shoulder.

Taxman,
This is a non gun solution to your dilemma. I have had both shoulders repaired-one done arthroscopic and one done open (that my friend was a bitch) and the secret to returning to shooting is DO YOUR PHYSICAL THERAPY.
Do it at home daily! Get your rubber bands and light weights and stretch and strengthen those itty bitty muscles and tendons in the shoulder joint.
I promise you that if you persevere you will be back soon and better than before.
Good luck and good shooting.

Hi Gary,

This surgery was open as well, a complete tear, partial tear, bones shaved, cysts removed and reattachment to the humourus. When the nerve block wore off the pain went through the roof, then a week of feeling very ill from the pain meds.

I guess I did not realize how limited life was going to be, lol! Can hardly get dressed, cannot put on shoes, can't drive......on n on. Grrrrr

But again, life is good!

Gary and Taxman
mine was open, 3.5 hours, etc. 5 months therapy, DO NOT NEGLECT THE THERAPY, AT HOME AND ANY WHERE YOU ARE,

I can now shoot right hand but have had to sell my 300wm and 280ai to reduce recoil, also no more skeet as the high house #1 and 8 statioon are out.

Trap is no problem

Finally able to drag out equipment today, just had a new 1-13.5 twist krieger chambered by Greg Walley at Kelbly's, LT-32, Bruno 68 BTs and wicked winds. Got my 20 cases fired formed left handed, what a freakin challenge that was to get set up on target and shoot! I was more than pleased with the results. One group of five was around a 3 in width with no vertical. Happy Time!!

I cleaned after the first shot, lil copper came out. Cleaned after 2nd and 3 shots, virtually no copper. Sat down slowly shot the remaining 17 rounds and hardly any copper at all. Looks like I have a very good barrel!

Ahhhh!!!!! Life is good!!
