CZ457 Made it to the Range

for the second time. Trying out different makes - Aquila cooper plated, lead RN, CCI Stinger and second trip for the CCI Blazer. Aquila did well. CCI Blazer did even better. Target is at 50 yards.

I know there will be other brands that will likely shoot better groups, and I plan to try some... but not the real expensive stuff. Likely just play at these targets and pick off a few squirrel here and there. But, what is the next few brands to try? CCI SV is already on the list.

Federal Gold Medal HV match works pretty good
Winchester M-22 also works very well
(Could be the twist or whatever but In my guns, something around 1200 fps and 40 gr work best for me )

My CZ457, I have the grandson use,. It shoots the Aquila coppers pretty
well. CCI's could have shot better, but had some different zip code fliers.
Old and new lots of the Remington golden, were junk. Howerver, for a
cheap date, the low velocity Reminton Match shot better then all of the
above. Federal standard velocity shot well. These I started with a clean
barrel, then shot a good half a box plinking around before going to paper.
They were not far off the Remington match......Match ammo wise. RWS-50
is what my rifle likes. It's phenominal for its stock barrel. Eley Tenex also was
right there but only had 2 box's of the same lot to test, and could find no
more......

Just looking at your targets, you won't have any trouble picking off a few squirrels here and there. I realize that affordable LR ammo is hard to find. I've had good luck with the bulk Federal Auto Match that I used to buy at Walmart, in all of my rifles. The bulk Federal hollow points worked well on ground squirrels. Puts the whammy on them. If you're looking towards competition, all I can tell you is Good Luck!

Try the Federal Auto-Match from Wal-Mart. It's cheap and works fairly well in all my rifles, if not the best in any of them. YMMV

I agree Norma Tac-22 shoots way above its pay grade. A guy at the range asked me to test it to verify if it was as good as he thought it was. I never shoot cheap stuff and was figuring shotgun like groups, boy was I surprised. Maybe a lucky lot, but sounds like others like it also (especially for the price).

I use CCI Standard Velocity in my Tikka T1X.

Last Spring to Early fall, I fired 900 rounds in scored precision fire and had 10 flyers I could attribute to the ammo which is about 1%. Given the economy of this ammo and its ready availability it is my recreational target shooting ammo of choice.
