CZ Turkish walnut

I thought this an inferior wood due to the muddy appearance of the finish. It scratched and dented easily so I decided to strip it. Surprise, surprise! Beautiful grainy, complex character. Paint stripper didn't work so well but the production finish that is sprayed on stain and soft lacquer? mixed is easy to sand off. I put one coat of 100% tung oil on it then some medium dark stain to even the color more to my liking and tone down the contrast. It is really pretty now. I have the action epoxy bedded already and will add more coats of tung oil on the outside unless I feel the need for polyurethane eventually. Amazing transformation if you don't mind a little dirty work.

Tikkatoy,
I know of several people that have discovered the same thing. They have covered up some real nice wood. Do you have pics?

See if this shows up. Best I can do with lens light, etc. Needs several more coats tung oil still. I may keep this ol' ugly gun after all.
