UP DATE MY CZ MTR Rebuild

So while I’m waiting for my Lilja barrel to get here (around the end of the month) I figured I’d take my very ugly dull MTR stock and well make it a bit more customized for myself just so it stands out from a “normal” MTR.

Went with a warmer tone of orange “pumpkin orange actually” just for a bit of color that blended with the brown walnut stock. Since my Lilja barrel is SS I decided to go use a metallic silver for the lettering thinking it will be a really nice contrast/blend with it.

I only have 2 coats of gloss finish on it right now but I’m really liking how it’s pulling out the grain in the wood now. The original look of it really was very boring and nothing to look at thus the reason I wanted to add some color just to spruce it up a bit. I’m not sure yet as to if I’m going to keep it a full rubbed out gloss finish or if I’m going to leave it more semi gloss to kinda match the laser engraved textured parts of the stock. We’ll see how it goes.

Anyway to my surprise it really ended up looking really nice, at least I like it. I know the color scheme is probably not up most peoples ally but I guess at least I can say its mine.

Thanks for looking!

I like the color you chose. Looks good. The lettering doesn't do anything for me though. But that is a really nice and rich color.

Thank you, appreciate the comment. Well it’s a personal thing. Like I said it’s not for everyone, and I know that. I personally like how it stands out from the dark brown. You couldn’t see it before which to me was a bummer.

Ok so I’ve finished the stock and while it’s not “perfect” I’m happy with how it turned out. Tried to get it in the light just right so you could see the grain and finish. I didn’t do great there, sorry!
There is a total of 16 coats of poly on it with multiple wet & dry sanding down to 1500 grit in between coats.

I didn’t receive a shipping notice that my Lilja barrel was shipped and it will be here on Thursday according to the tracking :yippee: I’ll keep ya all updated on that as well.

Again not perfect but certainly better looking that the original IMO.

Then the next thing I did was lap my rings to fit my Arken 5-25x56 scope better then the stock fit of the rings. While I was at it I decided to switch out the stock set screw/grub screws for SS ones.
