CZ trigger springs

GTO Driver... check out this thread.... trigger job

I did contact the guy with the kit but decided to go it on my own instead of purchasing the kit. KoD posted a couple of photos with the first one showing the area that I feel is the most important to polish. The top of the trigger on my gun looked like it had been machined by a beaver and had gouges - not scratches - on the top/mating surface. I polished mine for a minute with 180 grit then for another minute with 400 grit and called it good. It and the spring vastly improved the feel and in conjunction with the spring (I ended up using the heaver spring) it is slightly above 1#. The trigger pull was lower with the smaller diameter spring but for my needs I chose the heavier pull. I did not attempt to micro polish the surface and in my finished trigger you can feel a little creep. Unless you are used to having a truly good trigger like a quality aftermarket trigger or an Anschutz target type rifle, IMO it is/can be one the the best rimfire triggers (relatively speaking $$$) you will run into .

Well, Tink, would you like to divulge your secrets? Recently picked up a 457 and would like to get my trigger to lowest, yet safe, TPW for benchrest use. Thanks for any info.

That would be very light for the CZ to be set at 4oz, I am not saying it cant be done, but a single lever trigger at 4 oz in my opinion would not be safe or reliable, from my experience setting the 457 below 10 oz starts getting risky and the pull weights vary from shot to shot. I use the springs from ebay and go for 12 oz, seems to be safe in mine and pull weights dont vary.

I was working on my 457 trigger today. I did some polishing and cut a couple coils off of the factory trigger spring. It feels pretty good now but I haven't put the pull gauge on it yet. Smoothing out the contact surfaces helped a lot. They looked like they had been finished with a rasp. Anyway, I noticed that the OD dimensions on the trigger springs that have been mentioned here are somewhere in the .140's. I measured mine with two different calipers and came up with .110 on both calipers. I bought this rifle new so I'm not sure why the difference. I think a slightly bigger diameter spring would fit but I don't know how much bigger. Has anyone else seen this or have any thoughts ?

I bought this one, works great. Only problem is it went up .50. LOL

I used the same spring and my trigger pull dropped from about 3# to 15 ozs. It still has a touch of creep but I am not going to try and smooth the surfaces, I would probably screw it up and end up with an unsafe trigger.

My buddy just got a new 457 AT-one. I mounted a scope on it for him to try and we headed to the range to put a few rounds through it. I had adjusted the trigger pull weight down about as far as it could go but it still felt like it was well north of 3 lbs. I took it apart and got the trigger spring out and took some measurements. OD was .147 and the wire gauge was .027 ! It's like a truck overload spring! I couldn't compress it at all between two fingers. It's nothing even close to what I found in my 457. I ordered a package of the CO4-12-16 from fastenal since that is something close to what I found in my trigger which I was able to get to 11 ozs. I'll see how it goes when I get the springs.

The springs I ordered from fastenal were going to take another 6 weeks to ship so I canceled. Ordered Raymond spring C01200120500M from grainger which got my buddy's 457 to 15 oz. I had to get 10 but several people where I shoot have 457's so they'll get used. Came to $2.30 ea. shipped.

I got mine off ebay for 7.99.....with free shipping....I have two of them in two 457's both went to 12 oz or a little less easily, lightest pulls I have been able to get and I have tried several other brand springs and these are the best, they also are custom made.
