CZ 527

This is one of my favourite guns. I don't use it as much as I should, usually reaching for my L461 Sako Varmint in 20 vartarg. Chambered in 222 Remington, a long time family friend bought one of the very early ones with the hogsback stock and Schnabel foreend for his "wife" and he proceeded to put 4000 rounds through it at all manner of game including pigs, deer and goats.
I followed him years later and have never regretted my decision.
It will shoot 5 shots touching using 52gr Nosler shots with 21gr of ADI AR2207 every day of the week and with the Meopta Artemis 7x50 scope, is easy to carry and will lay down a fox out to 230 yards easily.
It saddens me that CZ stopped manufacturing these and even though they were a little "clunky" and the set trigger a little bit wooden, they are truly a gem.

I've had a handful of 527's, still have two 17 Hornets, and I've never hit the wood lottery with any of them that I've owned. All of mine just had ho-hum looking wood but some of you have been much luckier.

I 100% agree with Mark W, not only does it appear to shoot extremely well but yours has a, really, nice looking piece of wood on it too! And, you just gotta love a triple deuce.

They are just one of those rifles you pick up and it just feels right. Love em ! Ordered one for a customer years ago and the wood was simply beautiful, almost tiger stripes.

I went on a bit of a varmint rifle bender last year. I came across a varmint barreled 527 in 204 Ruger. Never had the 527 on my radar and I intended to flip the 204. Well the seller threw in 100 pieces of once fired brass, dies, and ~200 bullets. I had a good stash of 8208 XBR so I shot it and was smitten. I would say the wood is interesting but not exactly pretty. One of my favorite rifles. Absolute murder on pdogs.

Nice snag. You can get addicted to them pretty quickly. Is that and EGW rail? I need to get one of those, just haven't done it yet.

I put a DIP Inc. pic rail on one of my 527's. It worked great, BUT, buyer beware the comb height on 527's factory stocks is pretty low and rails, even with the lowest rings, will add height to the scope and you'll have to lift you head up to see through the scope. My 527 204 Ruger I used the picatinny rail on wore a Burris Veracity 4-20x50 so I needed the extra height to clear the barrel but with a scope that has a 50mm objective by the time you get a mounting setup that just clears the barrel the scope is to high for the comb height of those factory stocks and cheek weld becomes an issue. I ended up installing a Kydex adjustable cheek riser on mine which solved the problem. On my other 527's including the two 17 Hornets I still have I only used a 42mm scope and the lowest direct mount set of rings and the factory stocks comb is just barely high enough for me with that setup.

I’ve had a few, as soon as they announced they were discontinug the 527 I bought a 222, 223 and 22 hornet, all of them have the lux stock and all of them shoot like that. They can be a little chunky and not super refined but that mini Mauser action and the accuracy more than make up for any short comings they have.

Why they discontinued them is beyond me. They offered more cartridge choices, stock configurations, barrel contours and barrel lengths than anybody, I don’t know any who even comes close. I have to believe their sales won’t be as strong, maybe someday they will bring it back, doubtful but one can hope.

I have just built a CZ 527 in 20VT from a 204 Ruger I was given by a friend who got out of shooting. Its an excellent lil rifle. I was lucky it has a Krieger 12T barrel on it I was able to rechamber.

I too really dont get why they discontinued it. It had a great following here in Australia. I have a good mate who is now looking for one in 17 Hornet.

How does that feed? Original mag I take it.

Add another cz 527 fan here. I was able to track down a 204 Kevlar right before they discontinued them. I also picked up a 223 Lux on a great price two years before they discontinued.
I almost sold it but now I’m just hanging onto it now to maybe find a trade on another 527.
I love my 204 but really contemplating sending in to pac nor for a 1/10 twist barrel threaded to run a van on it

Like many folks I have a few CZ rifles. Ya know, the good ones. After CZ abandoned their loyal clientele, dropped all their sweet Mauser style guns and tried to play “me too” with crappy push feed guns that were soon recalled for seriously dangerous design flaws…CZ can pound sand.

Yup I agree I stopped buying the new models.
I have several 455 but no 457.
I wish I would have got a 550 back then and a carbine but could of would of should have

I purchased a Model 527 from a buddy of mine chambered in 223. He bought it new. It had a 9 twist barrel on it. He never could get it to shoot. He let a buddy of ours try to get it to shoot. He couldn't get it to shoot either. Had it bedded and the whole nine. Never could get it to shoot. So he made me a good deal on it. It's at the smith right now. I'm making it into a 20 TAC. Should be a real sweet rifle. 10 twist barrel so it'll shoot the 40's just fine. Can't wait for it to get done.

It really likes the Federal 90gr TNT and the Nosler 123gr CC rounds.
Started doing some workups with the Berger Hybrid OTM 130gr.
Did some work up with the Hornady 135 A-tip. Speed was not bad, but the accuracy was not there.
