CZ 527 Varmint Blank

Having trouble finding the specs on that particular barrel, and I’d be fine with a little heavier one but need the dimensions. Can anyone help? Need to find a 6mm blank.

I can dig one out of the safe later today and take some measurements for you.

Edit: I checked and there was one on the front row of the safe, so I checked it real quick. It measured 25” muzzle to action face, .750 at the muzzle, and 1.2” at the action face. This does not exactly match what I got on internet searches, which was 24” and .700 at the muzzle.

The closest blank that I have actually used to this barrel was a Criterion light varmint contour.

You sure on the 1.2 or are you talking tenon length from front of action ? A factory tenon dia. on a 527 is .990 or there about. The action itself might be 1.2.

Not sure, the scope was in the way. I would have to remove the scope or take it out of the stock to get a better measurement at that location. I think you’re right though.

On the 1/2 doz or so I had done. I used Lilja #6 contour. I had the shank turned to 1.100. Where the straight cut meets the taper, I backed up .125 and that's where the shoulder is. Those dimensions has fit every varmint barrel I had.

So you did basically a shouldered barrel?
The 550 is M28= 1.1 dia
527 is 25mm = .984 dia

Well it may not matter at this point. Wanted to do a 16” 6mm Max for a compact truck gun. But the reamer isn’t available for rent and you can’t buy one, apparently.

Have you thought about a 6×47 Lapua
Probably be easier to find a reamer and you could just use a 6.5 die with the appropriate bushing.
Just a thought
If you got the boltface could neck down a 6.5 Grendel to

Yes Sherm, a shouldered barrel. And to stir it up a little more, I had my smith cone the breech and cut for extractor. It helps in feeding some but short cases are still a bear and need to be pushed into chamber. Kind of like a 03 Springfield.

Ragged hole barrel has what you want and the man who runs the shop has supplied lots of them for my 527 builds

Now the 1.1 makes sense, I had a Tikka done the same way and used a PTG recoil lug to fit the profile of the action.
