CZ 457 Varmint MRT and Norma TAC 22

A couple days ago I posted about torque settings on my CZ 457 Varmint MTR.
Some members suggested I should use better ammo than Norma TAC 22.
My action screw setting are 15 p/i on the forward screw and 20 p/i for the rear.
I went to the range yesterday and zeroed the scope in
.After all adjustments, I shot a couple targets at 50 yards with 5 shots each using Norma TAC 22.
BTW these targets are printed on 1/8" graph paper.

Looks like pretty solid 1/2" groups. Have you shot anymore groups? I've had TAC 22 shoot very well from my CZ 457 VPT, but on a consistent basis I will get a wild flyer with about 10-15 shots, or every 3rd 5 shot group. It is the best shooting economical ammo out there IMO tho.

That wild flyer is the killer, especially if you want to try and use it in a match. It can be consistent "up to a point", then it let's loose with that flyer, or two.

The biggest problem with budget ammo is the wild flier, was it shooter error or the ammo?
Really the only way to be reasonably sure it wasn't the shooter is to have shot, and proven, other ammo to have found what does shoot consistently well in that particular rifle. So if you're shooting consistent 1/2" groups at 50 with brand X, and brand Y has a flyer every 10-12 shots, I think you can be reasonably sure that it's the ammo. :)

Did you test your CZ and find that it shot better with more screw tension on the rear action screw? I've typically had those figures of yours flipped, with more action screw torque on the front screw...

There is a bit of variation between lots of Tac-22.

I have used Norma Tac and Norma Match in my Kimber 82 at 100 yards mostly. I have shot 10x Cleans with the Match, and some 8x 98's with the Tac.... For practice and informal matches with a buddy i will use the Tac, but if I pay an entry fee, I will use the Match. It is a small, but notable difference between the two grades of ammo (as you would expect) and I can shoot and see the difference. Both beat the heck out of CCI standard and recent lots of Wolf and SK std I have tried.
