Yesterday was a GREAT day to get out back to my range and finally test my CZ 457 MTR and a couple of other rifles, with a few different brands of various .22 rimfire ammunition:
Left to right:
CZ 457 MTR
CZ 457 LUX
CZ 455 FS
Ruger 77/22
I mainly wanted to see which brand of .22 rimfire the CZ 457 MTR, sorta preferred. I start out shooting at 45 yards, and if the ammunition proves to do well, only then will I go out further to 75 yards, or maybe 100 yards. I'm shooting through a path I cut through timber so don't worry too much about wind being a factor:
I also wanted to test actual velocity with my chronograph rather than rely on box or advertised .22 rimfire velocity as found in barrel lengths of 20 to 27 inches in length, as in the CZ 457 LUX with the 27-inch barrel:
Here are a couple of targets shot from my CZ 457 MTR, with RWS R100 (Left) and then ELEY Target (Right) at 45 yards, 5 round groups:
Interesting to note, concerning the CZ 457 MTR, for those who don't yet own one. When chambering a round in these rifles, the bolt turn down will feel a bit stiff to the unaware. Here's why:
Notice the engraving marks from the tapered leade in the first driving band of these bullets? That's just one of the great features involved with these rifles that makes them so dang accurate. And, this rifle has not had any pillar bedding or addition trigger pull adjustment done on my part, as yet!
This stuff is way too much fun with one's cloths still on, and especially now with all the dang mosquitos lookin' for a place to stick their beaks.
