CZ 457 MTR or Tikka T1X MTR?

In my experience with Tikka and CZ, the only time a "barrel lottery" becomes a factor is if you buy a CZ. I've had mixed results with CZ barrels. I doubt I'm alone in that dept, judging by the number of aftermarket barrels available for CZ rimfires.

With the Tikka, you're going to get a good barrel, in the small group of people that I know personally who have them. I don't know anyone that hasn't been happy with the barrel they got in the rifle.

As to stocks, any stock that will fit a T3 or T3x will also fit a T1x, with very minor inletting, if any.

This is mine, in a T3 Hunter stock.
Balance is good, it feels like a full sized rifle, and I like the looks of it. In fact, it's going to the range with me later today..

It currently has between 8000-10,000 rounds through it, zero problems so far. Stock trigger with a lighter spring gives me about 1.5 lb pull weight.

Very nice! I have a T3x in .223. Please tell me about your front rest - looks like a carpet material on top. Do you have any type of friction material on the bottom?

No, it's simply a doormat stapled onto two layers of plywood. I also shoot F-class from a prone position, the base is designed to provide a relatively level footing for a bipod rather than uneven ground, grass, etc.

So you're able to load the bipod and the rest doesn't want to slide forward?

I don't load my bipods, they're free to move back and forth on the mat.

The Harris doesn't do that well because of the rubber feet, but I don't use it for serious target work. The T1x with the Harris is more of a casual shooting setup.

I use a Rempel bipod on my F-class rifles, it has ski feet that slide easily on the mat surface.
