cutting my brass up new LTR remington

i have a new 223 rem 700 LTR and purchased new lapua brass for it - i noticed the the first shot when i ejected that the brass has a long cut on it - this rifle has the bdl type clip and i assume it is the side rails that are cutting my brass up - i know its not a big deal but i dont like it - i just dont think its right and wonder if anyone has suggestions on how to cure it - can you dremel somewhere and prevent this or at least decrease how bad it marks the brass up - can i hurt anything if i were to smooth the edge down on the right side- any suggestions thanks

A lite de-burr with a hand file will usually take care of this (IF it is actually the lips causing it), investigate thuroughly

Personally I would polish the feed lips with 800 grit silicon carbide paper and cold blue them if it is a blued rifle.

I had a Rem. 700 custom shop .300 ultra mag. that did that. The cases were scratched during ejection because the ID of the receiver at the breech had a sharp edge. I guess they missed the note on the prints to "break all sharp edges - unless noted".
