Cutting Fluid for Threading and chambering!

Im not knocking flush systems i just dont need it for drilling and boring a chamber and then finish ream.
What you are using will work perfectly fine. If you are looking to improve upon your chambers, think hard about flushing cutting fluid through the muzzle. I drill, bore and ream as well. Just curious, what are you seeing that you seek improvement on? In my experience, I see quite a bit of improvement in neck area finish.

Don't know about JGS, but both Manson and PTG recommend dark sulfur cutting oil and not synthetics for HSS reamers at the speeds/feeds we operate em.

I do use Vipers for brush on, seems to have a little more lubricity to me. But Ridgid works just fine in my flush system at half the cost...

Castrol Moly D for threading

Tap magic X-tra thick for chambering!

When the Castrol Moly D is gone, I will use the Tap Magic X-tra thick for everything. Catch Zoro on a 20-25% off sale:

I use a reamer pusher, holding the reamer in a t handle. I can not feel the reamer cutting with the X-tra thick, I feel resistance...never seen anything like it. Stays on a part at 300 RPM. With some fluids, you can feel what seems like the grain of the steel when the reamer is cutting, but never with the X-tra thick.

I have not seen any other product reduce friction on a reamer like the Tap Magic X-tra Thick. If you pre bore a chamber, fill the chamber full of the fluid, then load the reamer. As you start running the reamer in, you will wonder if the reamer is even cutting....then you see the chips!

Cool, thanks for the info.
I see it online for under $120 for a 5 gal- that's way less than Ridgid.

Admittedly, much of the chemistry of all the neat cutting oils is way beyond my pay grade- and confusing.
Chorinated additives, sulfur content, etc. Some have both, some one or the other- or none.

Is the viscosity similar to darker cutting oils?
Do you use it strictly for chambering, or all ops where lubrication is beneficial?
