Cutting a clip slot in a Rem .700 action?

I have 1 short action I want clip-slotted..Looking for some who has done this before and who hasn't got a 3 month wait...

Anyone have this done recently? Who'd you use? what'd you pay?

I offer this service. It is done to USMC specs and is identical to the slots,as well as the other modifications that are part of this process) that were used on the early 700's and 40X's.
Please contact me for pricing and turn-around.

218Bee:

Are you meaning cut for stripper clips or cut for a magazine.

The word clip are often used synonoumously,incorrectly) for magazine.

I have made stripper clip feed slots that were intergal with the rear sight base in the past for Match rifle shooters who have rifles with magazine wells.

Please clarify your need.

Yes..to clarify...A USMC pattern stripper clip slot, found on early 700's & 40x's.....I'm putting together a USMC M40 clone on an early 6-digit receiver and need the slot done....I'll call DocEd in the AM... Texas Brigade Armory cut one for me last year.....They do excellent work, but with a long wait...Just searching my options...

Are you shooting Irons? I made a sight base for a Savage model 10 custmer. I was milled out for a 308 striper clip and he shot 260 Remingtons cross the course. If you do this I recomend tig welding the stripper holder and not incorporating it into the rear base. The force it took strip the stripper often interfeared with the sight base that was attached with two 8 X 40 screws. The detachable box magazines from Badger, HS Precision, and Kevin Wyatt all have their plusses and minuses.

Hi Rusty;

Negative on the iron sights...I'm building a USMC M40 sniper clone.....I had one partially built last year by Texas Brigade Armory and it's a beauty...,they did the chambering, headspacing, clip slot & parkerizing....I did the stock & optics work...)Mike Lau is the boss and he's great to work with...

I have a surplus of M40 parts left over from the build....enough to put another one together...I just need a Kokolus repro stock & a clip slot cut.....The stock is just over $200.00 and is an exact duplicate of a USCM M40 stock....I used one on my first build and it fits great with a minimum of handfitting, and takes the old-school aluminum Remington buttplate like a dream......It even came with swivel holes in the right spots....

I'm still price-shopping clip-slots, as that's my next step....

Thanks
