Custom Remington 600s

picked one up in 243 that was badly neglected 10yrs ago, replaced barrel with a 18" rem model 7 in 7-08 stainless, slimmed the stock, fitted over-barrel suppressor and topped it with a fixed 6 power weaver. weighs in touch under 6lbs. Great for climbing hills and thick brush. My go to rifle!

Bought a .222 50 years ago, never happy with how it shot. Had it rebarreled with a 22" light varmint contour in .223 1:9 twist with a match chamber by Shaw . Bedded it in the original stock with a steel trigger guard. Got busy raising two great sons and it sat for 30 years. We started a 200 yard benchrest match for 12# and under at our club last year and found that it acquits itself pretty well with a 69 grain SMK and a little Varget.

Turned mine into a Brux barreled 22 br, along with a laminated stock..
Pushed a 700 trigger foreward so I could use it.........

I have an action on the shelf and a full length stock in the rack waiting to be turned into something. My first cf rifle was a 6mm back in 68.

Been searching for one in 6.5mm Rem Mag for a few years now. Haven't found one in a price i'm willing to pay for yet.

Not much of it showing in this picture but owned this 6mm for a good 50 years. Killed a few deer and some groundhogs in that time but mostly it just sits in a safe. No real interest in it and no modifications save to glass bed decades ago and fix a crack in the stock way back when also.

No. Did not shoot the little buck "peeking" in this picture this past season. Have not fired this rifle in anger for maybe 4 years when a doe made the mistake of showing up when I wanted to shoot one. It is a good little MOA shooter, even with ammo I loaded maybe as far back as the 1980's or even earlier.

Built one for a Grandson several years ago. It is a 6X47L. Shilen barrel, Brown Pounder stock, Anschutz bolt release, 3 pos safety, and an ugly camo paint, but that is what he wanted. It loves Bibs 87 grain bullets.

Had a custom stock on my 308. Someone wanted it more than I did.
Have a 6.5, but haven't shot it in years, same with my 350

I have one with a little work done. It is actually one of my 22-250 pd guns.

I built it for my late father as his primary pd gun. He believed the 243 was the ultimate gift to man, or himself, I could never figure out. So I originally built it as such.

After he passed, I rebarreled it to 22-250 14 twist, shot that barrel out, and then rebarreled it again, this time with a Krieger 12 twist. It has a metal trigger guard, Claro walnut stock, and Birdseye Maple butt pad. Stock trigger.

It absolutely hates prairie dogs, but it is delusional, thinking it is a target rifle as it brought home some fake wood this last summer. I hope nobody tells it the truth.

Jim

I believe that was a 660. The 660 had the black forearm tip. My first gun was a 660 in 308. Paid 99.00 with a box of shells. Matt

I love those little guns. They are actually addictive. A friend had one re-barreled and the original stock bedded in 6mm with a 22 inch barrel for his wife. I wish I owned that one. I just killed a doe with a 600, 6mm just as it left the factory a few weeks ago. I have a .222 I like to shoot and an unfired .222. Sold a .243 to a friend for his son - big mistake. They all shoot good enough to leave them as is. But I would like to try one converted to Robert Whitley's 6mm Turbo Improved. It would be perfect for deer in my area.

I used a 600 in 350 Remington Magnum years ago. Set it up as a Cooper style scout rifle with a IER Leupold scout scope. I remember those 250 grain Speer bullets chronyed close to 2400 FPS out of that short 18.5” barrel. I even reloaded 357 handgun bullets in it for plinking. Great rifle and good memories.

Where is your nearest deer factory?

Respectfully,

Jim
Man, when I re-read that sentence I realized how bad it was. My apologies. I just meant the 600's I have are untouched because they generally shoot in the 3/4 inch range. I do admit I hate that clunky forearm on them though.

I'm not sure about the deer factory, but I think it was near the big duck pond. I do know the CEO has passed though.
