Custom bullets,how long a wait.

can others give me an idea how long a waiting period is customary for these manufactures to ship bullets. I don't want to mention who but I am three months into it now.

By the way, hope you all are having a great thanksgiving.

Well, about 2 months after sending an email to one, I still haven't heard a word back. When guys have all the business they can handle, there's really no reason to bother with new customers I guess. -Rod-

Yes thats what I was thinking, one took my credit info but has not charged me and the other said he would send an invoice when they are ready to ship.

I'm a dealer for the Clinch River bullets if you need any of these. I have 140 grn flat base in stock and some 147 grn as well both for the 6.5

Steveyrock,
I've waited 3 to 4 months for custom bullets. Some of the makers will tell you to plan ahead because they are one man operations. Jeff Fowler's bullets are so consistent, dimensionally and weight wise, that he is worth the wait. There are other quality bullet makers out there and are all in demand. A benchrest friend of mine orders 15,000 at a time and I would expect all similarly serious shooters order somewhere near this amount. Bergers are good bullets and are usually in stock.

Custom means custom. Everything is made to order and a guy in his basement making bullets one at a time aint gonna be fast. You will have to look ahead and order things in advance of needing them. Actions, barrels, stocks, bullets, powder, primers and the list goes on. Dont look ahead on powder? Find some N133 8lb jugs right now. Always have on hand a minimum of a years worth of components.

Is that where you get your BR bullets, Stephen:). Just kidding, I know you make your own but I doubt you let them run out until you make more. Dont rely on suppliers to have what you need when you need it. I've dropped my fair share of $$$'s at Bruno's, but he won't always have what you need.

Thankyou for your insights.

I know these are custom made and was well aware it could take who knows how long.

I am not in dire need of these bullets as I am using Bergers with good results.I just was wondering if I will even get them at all or do I need to reorder, send them a reminder or maybe even just forget about it. Like I said I am waiting three months now and would like to have them by March of 2007 at least. My question now is from your experience will I even get them at all?

I am patient and don't want to pester anyone with a reorder or a phone call asking where they are at if this amount of time is customary, that's why I am seeking advise on this forum from others who have been there. Thanks.

steveyrock,
If the person is Jeff Fowler, just be patient. I was wondering whether he had forgotten me or lost my order and they eventually came. Just for information and my own curiosity, I randomly weighed 20 samples of Jeff's bullets for the hell of it. They all weighed exactly the same; not +/- .1 grn. but dead nuts on. That is why you have to wait and be patient as that kind of quality can not be rushed.

My buddy Gene DeLoney always orders Fowler bullets 6 month in advance. He orders when has a thou and orders 2 thou. Gene won SOY for the 2nd year in a row at San Gabriel this year with Fowler bullets. A .22XX agg average for 10 months of shooting, we lost the last 2 months when San Gabriel closed. Jef's bullets are well worth the wait.
