Custom Barrels Makers are not really custom.

So I've been going crazy looking for a barrel maker to make me a custom AR Barrel as it would seem no body is really custom, you select from their offerings and they produce them when the next lot is done.

Are their any REAL custom barrel makers anymore.

Most will do what ever you want, you cant go by just what they offer, call kreiger and who ever you like to see if they will make the contour you need.

I sent Lothar Walther prints, GD&T and all and spec'd out an inspection sheet for them to fill out afterwards.

They filled it out and everything...took a year... but they did it!

Barrel is dead nuts.

Emailed Bartlein, no response next step is too call them, Kreiger said they wouldn't do it, lilja said they wouldn't do it and suggest I choose from their other contours. I asked them for an 16" M4 mid gas they wouldn't do it. Same with Kreiger they told me they don't do 16" mid gas.

I guess I'm an odd ball, I'm looking for a tapered midweight M4 Socom contour much like Liljas but in a 20" rifle lenght, Its for a female cousin who's looking for longer range acuracy but needs allot of weight cut, my kreiger DCM is just to heavy for her.

Honestly I think the contour would be AWSOME and I'd trade in my DCM contour for one myself but with a full .75 all the way from the gas block so I can use a JP A2 for my front sight and be able to place it anywhere I like.

Basically I need a midweight, rifle gas, 20" none threaded.

I see a few more companies that may need a call.

In "normal times" they DO make custom barrels to your measurements, but they are all sooooo back ordered that they just do not have the time right now.

I believe Hawk Hill who is a sponsor on here will do anything you want. I'd contact them and see what they can do.

I'm sure Hart rifle barrels can do what you want. There may be a waiting list at times.
Just talk to jack sutton about your prodject

You might try giving John Scandale a call or e-mail. He has a good reputation and should be able to fix you up.

It is interesting to read this post. "Most" don't know much about barrels, and/or barrel makers. Currently there are over 200 barrel makers in the United states. Most of the best and worst barrels are made by little small shops through out the United States. The best barrel makers don't advertise their products or services as they are backed up with work based on their barrels performance.

There are top shooters who want tell the truth on who's barrel they are really using at the request of the barrel maker.

You are saying that there are secret barrel makers out there that sell to elite-level shooters and then request that these shooters tell people that the barrel was actually made by someone else? I find that hard to believe.
