Custom Action Questions/comparison

I hate to be the guy to create a ton of threads but I have a few questions and thoughts and can’t find the right answers or comparisons I’m looking for so here I am agian

I have decided to build a custom action rifle... now I was looking at a pierce as they are close to me very nice and when I visited them they took the time to show me there shop and let me handle a few rifle / actions they had there and I was impressed...

Now where the question comes is a friend of mine who is thinking about building one also sent me a link to a bighorn origin barreled action that can be ordered in what ever configuration one might like... so I started to look into the action and I see it has a floating bolt like a savage and it made me go huh is it going to be rattle and loose similar to a savage if so I’m out... or are they nice and tight actions? Than it got me wondering ... is there another action I should consider in the $1000 dollar range ? If so I’m all ears.... FYI I’m looking for a Remington foot print based action... any thoughts concerns would be greatly appreciated

I should add one thing I was unsure on was I was planning on using a bartlien or krieger... the bighorn comes with a rock creek I believe

This is a great option in your price range and is currently in stock which is rare.

I shot a Tenacity for a while and even got an extra bolt for it to switch to a 223. I've beat the hell out of the thing and it never failed. Saying that, I handled one of the Kelbly Atlas and if I were doing it over, that's the way I would go. It's smooth and easy to operate, and the ejector is fantastic. It would make finding the lands really easy doe to not having to remove the ejector. I have a nucleus, as well, and it is pretty sweet. The Atlas would be my choice, though.

You can get any barrel you want on a Bighorn Origin. Your smith just has to
shoulder the barrel to fit it.
What is this going to be used for mostly?

In my opinion, the Defiance Deviant action is virtually identical to a Remington and as good as a Kelbly F-Class. They are cheaper than most actions price-wise, however, quality-wise, they are right there with the best of 'em..

I currently have a defiance deviant, terminus Zeus, kelbly atlas, stiller tac 30 and a blueprinted 700. I have handled/shot bighorn tl3’s, Borden, and cadex as well. There many great actions out there, but at the 1000 dollar range the kelbly is sweet! It’s lighter lift then anything I’ve felt. The bighorn was really nice in this department as well. The kelbly I find to be one of the smoothest going as well! It has great features as well!! They accept prefits and can buy interchangeable bolts for caliber swaps!
Highly highly recommend! Will buy another with pleasure. I actually prefer it to my deviant. I was slightly disappointed with my deviant. You hear and read amazing things. Don’t get me wrong it’s beautiful, but it’s not as smooth as my kelbly, or as light of a lift

the only thing to mention, a kelbly won’t mount into a krg bravo due to trigger hanger! Found that out after ordering the bravo lol. So it’s back in my mpa and the bravo has the vudoo in it

Also, not trying to create any crazy ness here but a local smith whom I have never used before quoted me $4-450 to barrel an action... he also never heard of a 6xc... soo idk is this a normal price?

If this smith hasn't heard of a 6XC, might look else where.
Is the work he quoted you for the chambering and barrel?
Or just the chambering?

Trigger hanger is what a trigger is put into then it's attached it to the rifle.
Get a Smith that has Bench rest, f class experience .... If that is what you're after.
If you're shooting at the farm for fun ...you might just buy a OTC or used to start with.
Take it apart, you'll learn allot
