A non issue.Has anyone ever done a hardness test on an action with 100K rds on it, or would this be a moot point?

remember we are talking about "custom" actions that are made to modern day specs.,,,,not a military mauser or some other antique action ,,,,,if the action was soft it would not have made it to 100,000+ rounds,,,,RogerA non issue.
Im going to go against the grain here and say it depends. I know my Defiance Deviant has had some bad, abusive days in the middle of PRS matches. Any lubrication attacts dust and debris...but you dont have time to clean. You gotta run the gun. Last year during the PRS Finale in Oklahoma I did a fair amount of bolt and raceway damage as well as light scarring to the lugs for going about 2-3 stages longer than I should have without cleaning. Last weekend I started to foul up about 6-8 stages in to the day.
I expect my action to go about 30,000 rounds, then it will probably need the lug faces cleaned up, hone the action bore and then send it for sandblast, electropolishing, and then DLC. That should help it handle the conditions a little better.
That said, if you keep them clean... they should outlast you.
If you dont... you get what you get. A bad match with Afghanistan like dust will kill an action quick.
Like the old Indian used to say "Me know how, Me want SOME"![]()
The saddest part of aging ..... not only do I not remember HOW ..... I even forget WHY!!!!![]()
