Custom 600yd-1000yd varmint rifle...

Fellow Varmint Shooters -
I want to build my first custom varmint rifle; I am thinking 6mm br with custom action and barrell. Want it to be heavy and accurate. I am looking to spend less than $3,000 over the period of purchasing the parts. I am open to many suggestions. Please help!!!

good luck keeping it under $3000. stiller would be a fine choice--i have a predator single shot short action and love it. BAT would be another excellant choice

I have Stiller Diamondback, Hall and Bat "B" all with BR or 6BRX barrels. For long range any of the actions will be fine. By being heavy, guess you want a bench gun. I like the MBR McM stock. I do all my varmint shooting from a bench or from the hood of my jeep.

I have picked up all my guns used, and added just a little, new barrels or stock. You can save a ton if the gun has most of the things you want. A PPC bolt can be opened to a 6BR. If you want to go to 1000 yds, you may want to look at 6BRX or 6 Dasher. For PD you will be fine, but for goundhogs you will want the extra punch.

Barrels any of the top will be good, Krieger, Brux, etc. I go for how fast I can get the barrel. 8 twist would be best.

If you want results at 1000yards get a 6mmAI, the 6br is ok but not great

Sometimes your goal can be easily attained when the task seems truly difficult ,if you know where to look .
Yes I know you can get Howa to shoot have built several there are some drawbacks . The Rifler

You may want to look at a Savage Target Action w/ a good stock and SSS's EVO trigger. W/ Glass and all you should be under $3k and have a kick butt rig.
