Cure the Bridging Problem

I have 4 Dillon loaders and all came with a Dillon powder measure. Most of you have heard me bitching about the pour performance of Dillon powder measures with log powders and even ball powders on the small necked cases. I have tried about every manufactures powder measure put on a Dillon press. A few months ago I bought a Quick Loader from Tim Johnson. The quick loader powder measure incorporates several unique processes. One of which is the hanging of a small ball chain down through the powder funnel. The ball chain is adjusted to break the plane of the powder funnel constriction above the case neck. I called Tim Johnson to find out if this process was patented. He informed me it was not, I have drilled all my powder measures so as I can hang a bead chain through the powder funnel. This has cured my delayed powder measure problems.

Hipshot:

It is not going to make it throw like the Quick Measure or a drum type measure. But it stopped those pesky drops of powder after the die was returning to the up position. When it dropped powder all over the shell plate.

Most loaders load ball powder in the .223,but the chain make it so one can throw log powders with concern of bridging and spillage.

Rusty: That is good information. I also have a Dillon,550 w/Dillon powder dispenser) but even my much higher dollar benchrest powder measure tends to have problems with powder "bridging"...Thanks for sharing your observation, and importantly, a solution. Larry Kramer, Victoria, Tx.
