Crown Protector

I've seen allot of people with the rubberized cap over their muzzle to protect the crown. Any idea where to get one for a heavy palma with a .900 muzzle diameter?

I was told to try the hardware store and look for the caps that fit over bar stool legs.

I haven`t checked, but i think the ends of crutches might work too......

Try LOWE's probably has rubber feet that go on chair legs that will do what you want!

They are used to cover cannon plugs/connectors in the aircraft industry.

I just go to town to John deere and they have boxes of plastic caps the factory put on the ends of hydraulic hose fitting to protect the threads in shipping. They just throw them away..I have a hole bunch in different sizes and colors! ! ;D FREE!

A good rifle case is all that's required. I store and transport my $3500 custom rifles in a good hard case, it protects more than the crown.

A good case plus the crown protector is the way to go, imo. When you are moving your rifle to or from the firing line the end cap can provide that extra protection.

A roll of electrical tape. Cut a piece about 1-1/2 inches long and place it over the end of the barrel, it keeps crud out and if you forget to remove it the gas blows it off. I have experimented with "field" accuracy with it on the end of a barrel and it does not change point of impact of the bullet.

I was thinking the same thing. The smith should cut a nice recessed or tapered crown. Why would you slide something over the muzzle and risk overlooking it when fired? Do competitors in the mentioned discipline really beat up their muzzles that much?

Just wondering...that's all.
