"farmland" in CNY is going for $1000-1500 an acre...includes hillsides, rocks and oak trees. 20 years ago it went for $500.

Better buy yourself all that farmland you can. 5 - 13 k per acre in these parts and some even higher.

$1000 $1500 per acre? That is cheap.
Around here, 35 acres of sage brush will go for $150,000 minimum, closer to town, $400,000.

If I could find property for $1000 per acre, I'd have a hundred acres or more!

This thread is too funny. Ethics police, moral high grounders, anti-hunters and hunting purists. What's the difference between bait and a food plot? They are both put there by people to attract and kill game. I think we should take the moral high ground and get rid of guns, bows and all their accessories that make it unfair and go back to real hunting with loincloths and spears.

One of my first posts here was about the jackwagon that filmed his spear black bear hunt, posted it on youtube and lost his hunting show. I sorta tried to play devil's advocate but the thread just got very emotional. In the end the concensence was in that guy's position, he probably should have left that off the internet.
On land pricing, the undeveloped part of my county ( no long range plans for county water, building restrictions are more lax, predominantly farming ) , 20 acres or less is generally 5k an acre. Comes down per acre as the tract gets larger.
20 miles west, just past my shop, land for 20 acres and under is 3k an acre but tends to be rocky and more vertical.
Pick somewhere that you can afford, with game and build your dream.
