CP muzzle breaks

Would it be legal to use a CP muzzle break in a open F class match if it was in the closed position? I`de be one sure buyer it it is! Does anyone know if you could use one?

By US NRA rules, brakes are banned from highpower competition, including F-Class matches). Even with your brake in the "off" position, someone could argue you're using prohibited equipment, and technically, they'd be right. Why take the chance of this happening?

A typical F-class match may see you firing 70-100 rounds/day. A rifle shooting a round recoiling hard enough to require using a brake probably isn't going to be comfortable to shoot for this many rounds.

I'd think.... but I don't know, that a brake that's closed and non functional would no longer be a brake. It'd then be a tuner.

Muzzle breaks, even for a light recoiling rifle, are a plus when they're legal. Being able to see when and where the bullet hits the berm is a very valuable sighting aid. So, a rifle that's to be used in more than one venue might be nice with a brake. But then, why not remove the brake for F-Class so as to not stir up controversy. Unless, of course, the rifle benefits from the tuner/weight at the muzzle. Varmint Al has determined that weight at the muzzle will theoretically improve the grouping ability of a rifle barrel.

Probably not an issue with a 1000 yard rifle, when time of flight is about 1.5 seconds or longer. Even at 600 yards, time of flight is around .8 seconds, which may be long enough. Using a seperate spotting scope, it's possible to move from rifle to spotting scope in less than .8 seconds.

Thanks for the advice,
I think your right about the chance of someone posibly calling me on it, not sure if I`de take that chance. I guess I could use a thread cover and revome it if there`s a problem. I don`t plan on shooting in very many matches, thats why I went with a rifle I could shoot in the field of a bi-pod but this gun will wieght about 18+lbs w/scope and I`m hopeing wieght helps tame the recoil of the 7saum & 162+gr pills. The breaks to help watch critters disappear far away.;)

Thanks,patchhound.
