Coyote calling

Been darn good for me out here, some days slow some others fast action. 2 more in the freezer Tues night.

Only been out a hand full of times and the dogs are hesitant. I'm pretty sure they are being called at pretty frequently around here.

I've talked to some other callers and they are having same problem as me. I think I'll try some new ground next week. Barlow

i could have shot one with a handgun sunday morning, if i had had it with me. crossed the road ahead of me. but, it was near my lady friend's family property. and i have permission to hunt it now. around here they seem to be very active mid morning. moving around in broad daylight.

I set up this morning about 8:30, on my girlfriends uncles property, was facing east watching a woods about 300 yards, that has heavy coyote activity, After one set i spotted one moving perpendicular to me along the woods line, headed north. I got ready, hit the call again for a couple seconds, and waited for it to show over the rise in the field between the woods so i could take the shot. After about 10 minutes i spotted it again, still due north headed right tword another farms back yard almost half mile away. Maybe it winded me. What kind of calls are everyone using?

Another issue is the weather, -35 below wind chills the next few days to a week. I think I'll vegetate thru it. Barlow

Barlow, where in NE wi? They have slowed up in central wi the last couple of weeks but it should pick up again shortly. According to my records for the last 15 years here it's always a slow spell right around the end of jan to early feb. They pick up and start breeding normally right after the pause in the action. Calm before the storm I guess...

Funny you posted this, I was going to do the same thing. I live in Northern Missouri and have killed two during deer season ( last year ) and called in 5 since killing 3.
Dont think there is a shortage of coyotes in the area, me and some friends have been several times this year with little or no luck. We think everyone and there brother has a caller now and they are call-shy, dont know not a expert coyote caller.
