Coyote bullets

55g bullet in any brand pretty much does the job.
I hand load and run the 55g vmax in my AR15s.

Youre going to hear it eventually so might as well get it over with. No matter the manufacturer you will get better performance if you load it yourself.

Heavier bullet, say 64-77 will have less wind drift, if you intend to hunt on those cold windy days. Making for better long range shots. Hornady TAP is basically just a soft point hunting bullet. Available in 55 and 62 grain I believe. Not pinpoint accurate in any of my AR's but still "minute of coyote". Should be able to make kill shots out to 300 with the heavier bullets.

I save my fur, and I like the little light weight varmint types like Blitz, SX, and lately been using the 40 gr. V-Max. They USUALLY don't exit, and make for a perfect pelt. If they do exit, -- well -- I get to sewing. :(

I prefer the 50 V-MAX or the 50 Varmint Grenade. I have never had one walk away when hit with the Varmint Grenade. Even a few pretty bad shots put them down. They seldom exit - and that is if within 75 yards in my experience. coyotes are tough and a lot of the heavier bullets don't open quickly enough, resulting in a dead -but sometimes unrecoverable coyote.

I have been using an AR this year with the 50 g VMax. 25 g H 335.
I have not had an Exit or a Blow up on entrance like you do with the faster stuff like 22 BR or 22-250.
I don't save pelts anyway.

Give the Hornady Superformance 223 w/53 gr VMAX a try. All my friends shot that in their ARs last yr. That bullet has an advertised .290 BC and shot extremely well in 3 different ARs. Warning: If you hit them in the fringes it will make big holes in the hide. Chest shot and behind the shoulder shots we had no exits. Hit 2 on the run and hit back in front of the hips and it was UGLY. Good luck and keep us posted on your results.

I use Hornady 55 Gr V-Max. In my AR they are the perfect bullet for maintaining the pelt and unloading the energy inside the 'yote where it belongs. They are not moving too fast at 2800ish fps.

I run my 55gr v-max at 3050. I only get exits on coyotes under 100 yards with no bone hits, or on fox.

I sell fur, and usually i do not have issues with the v-max.

There is a guy here having good luck with the Sierra 69 TMK, i think his is a .223AI.........

40 gr Vmax pushed to 3850 fps from a .22BR. Very rarely do they exit. Hits like a lightning bolt. ;D

Nosler Vamageddon 62 grain or Barnes VOR-TX 62 grain bullets are great on the "better end" of factory ammo. If you don't care about fur, buy a can (420 rounds) of Federal 62 grain green tip penetrator FMJ bullets and save some money. They shoot really well but will not save any fur for you to sell. 420 will probably last you a lifetime of coyote hunting out to 200 yards.
