Covid is over, time to trim the fat

Yep. My '86 Miyata Pista. I've put thousands of miles on this bike. Century rides, club rides, not too many hills though, lol!

I'm hoping by hunting season to be back down to around 180ish. The food intake isn't hard for me to control, we cook nearly all meals now already (I love to cook) but my biggest downfall was lack of activity outside of work and drinking my carbs. I don't drink soda, but do love my good beers and having a couple every day has added up.
Where's the brakes on that thing ?

Over the years of covid, I put on more than a few pounds. Eating delivery, drinking, etc. At my heaviest I've ever been. 6'0" and 212lbs. Shooting prone i wished for deeper gravel to dig a hollow for my belly to rest in.

I now have a harder time staying in position for a 22 shot string, my sleep isn't as good, and I find lazy days doing nothing more appealing than the alternative.

Tonight my 15yo daughter asked me if I wanted to go on a bike ride with her. Thought about it for approximately 0.7 seconds and any answer other than yes was not good enough. Aired up my tires and set out for a nice evening.

So, to anyone else who may be in the same boat, a 15 minute walk, bike ride, treadmill, etc isn't that bad. Let's all do this together. We'll all be better shooters because of it.

You need to be in shape so you can carry my ass up the mountain come hunting season.

I just keep gaining weight since covid. wtf. btw nice watch! I had one of those and am probably one of the few people who has actually worn one out! took 37 years.

I lost over 40 lbs about 12 yrs ago. Made the world of difference in my legs. I feel diet is the only way to do it. Reduction of calories. I remember a doctor on TV years ago saying if you want to loose weight only by walking be prepared to walk to China.

Guess I'm lucky. I eat and drink whatever I want and still don't gain weight. Been 150# since HS, and that hasn't changed in 20 years. Covid (if that's what you want to call it) nor truck driving has had any effect on my weight. I go on walks every night with the wife, but it's only 1.5 miles and 30 minutes. That's not enough for me to lose weight or even get any type of workout. In fact, I believe if I was to work out, I'd end up losing weight because I can't eat the required amount of calories.

One thing to think about. I’ve found that some days I have the urge to screw off and not work out. Then at some point I realize I want to work out and do. Keeping the right mindset always provides forward progress.

Looks like a fixed gear track bike. Hard core!
Did somebody say track bike? Here's mine... I only live about 10 mins from a beautiful outdoor velodrome (Valley Preferred Cycling Center aka "T-town"). And, hats off to @Fast14riot for riding your Miyata on the road. A fixie on the road, without brakes, can be exciting at times!

Cycling is a great form of exercise - easy on the joints!

I need new tires but should throw my track only wheels on and head over to Hellyer. I just hate cleaning the glue off the rims and gluing a new set on.

I’ve been on carnivore for a year and half, I walk the dog at least two miles a day when I’m home and when I’m on the road in Hawaii I find a daily hike on the beach or forest. Lost 55 pounds doing the above and I feel really good on carnivore, plus my blood work improved and I pay less for health insurance now.

Covid - nasty word

Yeah, mounting up tubulars is becoming a lost art. I'd say "go for it"!! Hellyer looks like a great place to spin the crank and burn up some calories - which is what this whole thread is about, right!?

Nice wheels! I'm a roadie at heart, though you wouldnt guess ut to see me (getting thinner though). The Trek is my gravel bike, while the other is my beloved road bike. I'm fortunate to live in a state that's loaded with great rail trails to go along with the road riding. If anyone else is in PA and wants to ride, I would be happy to have company.

Eric
