COVID-19 Vaccine -- Over 70 Age

I'm scheduled for April but concerned about the rare but deadly side effect, thrombocytopenia, which was reported in the New York Times and some hematologists are warning about. However my doctor says the risks of contracting the virus and its affects far out weighs the risks of vaccine side affects.

Hope she's right but I feel like I'm on the "Edmond Fritzgerald" :(:(:(:(:(

I got my second Moderna last week. A little arm soreness for a few days was the only symptom I noticed. Went about my normal life.

It is wonderful knowing that I will not be able to get it or transmit, at least for a few months.

Going to swim up the tide here. I'm 65, with a few underlying conditions. Not interested in getting the vaccine. Don't wear a mask. Had it strike around me with no nasty outcomes. Shoot skeet a couple times a week with a bunch of old timers, no masks no social distance and no China virus, just electric vests. Were all going to get it or we ain't. In all fairness, I could come down with it and talk out the other side of my mouth in the near future.

76 years old with a wife 72 and recovering from cancer. NO WAY can we even get signed up to get the shots. Wife is on every site imaginable and each time - no more openings. Week after week it is always ... "next week". Two friends our age died from the virus. Another did recover but has nasty complications. Our kids and even a grandkid have had it with little issue. For us it would probably be fatal. Hope not to get it and find out but will not hide from doing things either.

Here in Florida there are lots and lots of us, called elderly, and unable to get the shots. It's the way it is.

That ok for you but how about anybody that you care about that you might infect or the people that would have to care for you. All just so you can exorcise your rights to not mask.

If irony counts for anything, I'm gonna catch the covid and die. I'm just one of the many scoffer/skeptics on this subject.

We've had a thread here with a few thousand posts on the subject, and I don't suppose that there is much that hasn't been said.

I will say, that when faced with a decision where you might be damned if ya do, and damned if ya don't --- I don't, jd

Wife and I got our second vaccine first of last week...Pfizer...neither of us were bothered in the slightest by either of the shots!? After hearing one of the staff administering the second shots tell another patient not to worry with follow-on discomfort, "that's just the vaccine working"; I'm wondering if we should go back for another!!

#2 this morning of the Pfizer. So far so good. They warned me of possible aches and pains tomorrow. Dang that was a long needle. I think they sunk it to the bone.

My Mom (96 years old) and sister 65 got 1’st Covid shot last weekend. No nothing
Not even sore shoulder

Sometimes the places that give vaccines have extra doses and give them out instead of tossing them out. Thats how everybody around here got theirs. I dont know of anybody that wants it that hasnt got it. There will be folks just standing around the vaccine centers waiting for the bonus doses

Our illustrious Mayor filled out the paperwork wrong and Kerrville isn’t getting any vaccine. I would have to go to San Antonio to even have a chance. They’re giving out a whopping 9 thousand doses a day, two days a week, when they have doses. With a population of 2.3 million, I give it a year!

Seems a bit disorganized here in Colorado.
65+ and I'm on half a dozen lists. 13,000 ahead of me at Kaiser. No one organization knows what the other is doing. It's a free for all with "good luck sucker" spend your day calling around. Fortunately it's 2 degrees out and all my brass is prepped.

Josh, you have to look all over the state, that's what we done. I had 2 appointments yesterday, 1 in Elgin that
I went to 30 miles, and 1 in Waco that we let someone else have. You got to hunt.
