Ended up taking 6 deer in Georgia this year. Saw but did not get shots at two huge bucks. If they don't stop moving over 250 yards I don't shoot. If they are closer I sometimes don't shoot because they are too close. It depends on the rifle I'm using at the time.
Muzzeloader took a doe at 110. 6.5 Ackley at 250, 270 took a nice doe at 200, 30-30 took a doe at 180 yards.

Also used my 7mm mag to take a doe and then my only buck of this season so far.
Watched it for a few minutes and decided not to shoot. It looked like an "ordinary" 10 pt and I wanted bigger. After a while it occurred to me the distance was good - 490 yards and I do have two Georgia buck tags.
Studied out this buck in the fading light again after earlier putting down the rifle on it. My last look on it looked good so I studied out and then took the shot. Hit inches from my intended location and dropped this 192 lb buck.

Super happy to make a nice kill. Only thing was the surprise coming. I never noticed that the right horn was broken apart.
Oh well - I'm proud of the deer and proud of the shot. It did not beat my nice buck last year at 540 yards but makes an interesting story.
