We had a good mule deer season. I took a young buck and a doe. My son took a doe. My friend & hunting partner took a couple of nice bucks. We all used Rem 700 rifles in light-kicking handloaded cartridges (6mm, .25-06 and .270 Win) topped by Leupold scopes. Shots ranged from 75 - 400 yards and all were one-shot drops. We hunted rough country for the most part and did a lot of walking. Three of the deer were cut up and backpacked out. Good times, good hunting. Maybe I'll get that monster mulie next year!
Made one heck of a tough stalk to approach this guy. Spotted him from a half mile out. Shot him at 175 yards after the stalk and a long wait for a shot opportunity:
I think he was more excited about this little buck than me!
