Muzzeloader Doe

OK. Big deal as it's only a doe but...muzzeloader at 146 yards gets me proud. TC Encore with 86 gr. Blackhorn 209 using a 250 TC Shockwave. Man I practiced at 100 and 200 yards. Forgot to practice at 150 so the drop was a guess.

Guessed it right through the heart.

This was a "sanitary" photo. More at this Photobucket link along with some quad and tractor playing at my Georgia camp. Check out one of my towers and the 1,000 yard shot.
Rut starts in a couple weeks. That's when I take out the "big stuff".

Yes. I often take pictures of the deer BEFORE shooting. Also got a coyote ar 340 yards trotting. 257 Roberts told it to STOP!

A lot of guys make fun of the penthouse condos but we have one on our place and man it is nice to have when it goes from 25 degrees to 0. It's good to have for old folks who still want to get out and hunt too, but I don't think my grandpa could scale your tower of a blind. How much do you have in that behemoth?

This is the view from that tower. You can shoot all the way and I have taken deer almost as far as you can see. This gun pictured is my 270. It's a 1/2 moa rifle I often use to shoot 600 yard gongs for fun. I limit my shots to my practice range and have taken three bucks with it from that tower to 650 yards. Last year took one with a 25-06 about 700 yards. I shoot no farther because of energy issues.

Had that tower built at Sumpter Co. Deer Processing for $450. That's all. Big trailer and 6 guys to get it there and up. Nice padded, elevated swivel chair, padded rests, picture chart with ranges marked, wind flags and 5 food plots out there. Top of that last one is right at 750 yards.

Also have around 10 other stands built around my area. Two are towers, most are ladder stands, some are rope-on ladders with chain stands and I have a climber.

Old??? 67 is old if you say so. I feel the same inside as I did when I was in my 20's. Now the knees don't think the same. That "gizmo" on the front of my quad is the best. I hardly ever touch a kill as it easily tilts, lifts and hauls most anything I have put on it.

That is a concession to age and diminished strength. Burris, Leupold and Nightforce make up for lessening visual acuity.

That's what I "MENT" to say Mike. OMEGA.

Sound like a politician, heh?

Had this one since they came out in the '90's. Guess I'm a slow learner.

Dont kid yourself about getting a doe.The older does are more wary than any buck.I count every deer I ever shot or arrowed or smokepoled as a trophy.Good going and when can I come down and share that blind.

Jon,

You want a ticket to join the line? Let one fellow in there two years ago. He killed his buck-of-a-lifetime, a decent 10pt, right below that close food plot. You might still see his lip marks on my rear end.

Thinking about putting up another tower at the other end, past that last food plot. I have not shot anything that far because of energy issues. Many show up that I watch but my limits are in the 600 yard range +- depending of caliber I happen to have with me. I can hit them but want to kill, not wound. That last plot and bank go out to 1,000 yards, so another tower near that end would at least cover 500 yards, coming back this way before it drops down a bit and you can't see.

This direction misses looking "into" a couple hundred yards of dips out there. I often see deer and then they are gone and then back. A giant cell tower above it all would be best.

Congrats Captain. Any any harvest at that range is great .With a "smoke pole" is an acomp. Again congrats.
