Could a 22x47L be as accurate as a 22 Dasher?

I bought 500 of the 80.5s. I'll find a load with them and see what I think after a few coyotes. I'm hoping I don't get exits. I don't care about the hide I just like a bullet to dump all its energy in the target..... and it's less messy with one hole as well.
Clancy, mine is on an EH3 at the moment, but I have an EH1 elite tac Moss ordered. As for the 80.5's, Jon will confirm that a metric poop load of coyotes have gone down in their tracks to 80.5's from his/TOM Ross/Mike Luckett's/ Rex and Woody's 22x47's. I hit a yote in the chest that was qtring to me at 104 steps, and it flipped her up and back. When I did some forensic investigation, the bullet grenaded and never even made it far enough back to punature the diaphragm. Everything dumped in the thorasic cavity and it was a lovely shade of red and purple jello. I have also killed a couple of big feral sows that ran about 200lbs each. Broadside Shots at 299 and 306, back to back, with both of them shot square through the shoulder / armor plate. Neither one took a single step and only one of them kicked about 3 or 4 times and that was it. DRT. I would have no issues about shooting a whitetail with it out to 300 or 400yds. If you wanted a bullet with a little more explosion, try a 69 or 77 Sierra TMK. They are proving to have a thinner jacket at the base of the poly tip than the classic smk does at the meplate. Guys are having very good luck with them out of 5.56/223 AR's over on the Predator Master forums.

Huckleberry,

I have gotten a lot of good feedback on that bullet. I've gotten some that was negative, but I'd say 90 percent positive feedback.

The first thing I'm going to do with the rifle, prior to any load development, is make up about 20 rounds with a mild generic load and go hunting in some of my better country. If I can get a quick sample on how they'll work for me I'll be much more comfortable going forward.

It sounds like you're pretty confident in the bullet, so that's another vote for the positives.

Jon/Tom et all, will tell you to start around 37.0 with H4350 and you should find a sweet spot between 37.5-39gns, depending upon how your reamer is throated. I think they are throating a .100thou, now but Jon will confirm that for you. He ran a test cartridge in my 22cm and told me where to seat to be jumping .020, went home tossed some powder and bingo. Just need to fine tune the powder charge, but expect to be around 42-42.4 for a final charge on the creed.

Clancy, how'd your 22x47 turn out? You like shooting the 80.5's? I don't know much but I'll help in anyway I can as I've been running my 22x47 for about a year now.

Still waiting on the EH3, will report.

Isn't it funny that you can get anything more or less overnight, but the Manners stocks (while worth the wait) take forever.

OK243,

What did you do for dies? I bought a set of Redding FL dies.

I'm using Redding 6x47 type s bushing die and my gunsmith made my seating die from a Wilson blank to use on an arbor press.

22x47 Lapua - 6x47 Lapua - 6.5x47 Lapua

WOW... I shoot a 80 gr amaxes in my 22-243AI at 3500 fps that knock things in the dirt...even deer shot in the shoulder ... but I do like the looks of that 22x47 Lapua cartridge.

Why would you think more capacity is needed. My dasher shoots as fast as my 6x47 and more accurate . The RR A I are very close to a dasher with even less capacity
Larry

It had nothing to do with capacity between the Dasher and the 47.
They're so close it's really doesn't matter.

I chose the Lapua so that I didn't have to fireform.

Well, at least not fireform to that degree.

Wit the 47 I never got the vertical out and the Es was awful . Chamber the same barrel to a dasher and every thing was fine .
You do what you think is best it wouldn't be my choice. Several friends shoot the 22 br none hasn't shot.
Good luck Larry

Interesting, how do these compare with 220 Swift, I've had two of those and both have shot lights out. The only negative with the 22-243 is the neck length. The 22-47L would somewhat rectify that. My money would be the 22 dasher because I think it's inherently accurate
