Cortina & Borden Interview

With the rising cost of components and barrels, the price of a custom receiver is less and less significant by the day.
Agree, especially if the claims made by Mr. Borden are true for which I have no reason to doubt that they are not true. I never imagined how much the firing pin design can contribute to precision shooting.

It's so much easier starting out with something that is at least capable of meeting your standards than trying to fix something to meet those standards.

Right. Generally a SS BR quality barrel is in the $420 range plus $20/30 shipping. Chambering is maybe $200 if you are lucky, so thats $640 min vs a $1500 action. Life of barrel, 30 cal, maybe 3000 shots of competitive accuracy, life of action if taken care of 10s of thousands of rounds. Buy once cry once.
Greg the days of a 200 buck chamber job went away a while ago. Sid use to charge me that from the beginning in 2013 to his passing in 2019.

Jim, UR probably right. I was trying not to overstate costs, but prolly understated some elements too much.
