Cooper Firearms ?

No real news on that to share, but on other forums I've learned that NH does not seem too interested in supplying parts or service on the original Cooper rifles (or warranty work). Most seem to fear the age of the original rifles is now over, and NH seems intent on focusing on tacticool chit instead of staying on the original track that built the company with walnut and single shot bolt action rifles in calibers that most here would prefer.

I only have four of the originals, wish I had more.

I’m glad I invested in my Montana Coopers when I did. I have three of them and just used this one a model 52 in Jackson Hunter in 6.5 x 284 just last weekend. I have another model 22 Phoenix in 6.5 x 284 and a model 22 in 220 Swift. I kind of wish I would’ve bought one with a fancy wood stock. I wish the company well that bought them but it would not surprise me to see they get away from the original concept, they were already starting to do that anyway.IMG_2611.jpeg

Ive got a 54 22 rimfire that will shoot with the Anschutz Ive shot with. Not benchrest rimfire but you put tennex or lapua match in there its hard to outshoot for a sporter. Doug

As an owner of about as many of the Original Cooper rifles as you, I have to say that they should have thought this through, BECAUSE, this attitude would be a big factor in me buying any of their new production, and I have to say, that this would mean NOT buying their new production.

I had a 54 Excalibur in 6.5CM and a 22ML. Should have kept the 22ML but moving back to PA from NE, I didn’t see it getting much use. NE considers anything that loads from the front legal for the 30 day ML deer season. PA applies the Blue Law mentality to muzzleloader season. Wish that I would have bought something with a wood stock. My complaint about their fiberglass stocks is the grip radius and profile. It just wasn’t comfortable in my hand. Had to send the 22ML back for stock issues but the customer service was most excellent.
I wonder if they were able to get the stockmaking talent to relocate. It saddens me to see that craftsmanship diminished.

So, what is the story of cooper not being able to continue to function as the reason they approached nighthawk to sell?
