Coons in my corn???!!!!!

I got a couple of neighbors who are good buddies and coon hunters. They live about 3 miles apart. They would each trap troublesome coons and relocate them over near their "buddy". After one particular coon with a strange identifiable marking had made about 6 trips back and forth, they figured it out and had a good laugh

Fly bait & grape soda---mix in dish-- they love it so do dogs & cats. take care beak

Aw heck, everything is raiding my garden right now. Corn is telling the story, gonna have to fight for my share. Lol

They have ignored my connibear set ups.
I have a half dozen of those Duke Coon traps on the way.
This is war!!

Dry dog food or cat food will be your best bet for bait just sprinkle a little inside the Trap little on the ground just be aware these traps are not exclusive for Coon I've got skunks possums and this very unlucky chipmunk hope you get them

My neighbor just plants more for the deer and coons. I say screw that. I do not sleep well any way so I hunt almost every night. What I found out works the best for me is a 15 with a thermal scope, IR laser and a can to not be so loud. I then wear a nv for navigation and use with the laser.

Just being out there really pushes them away. If you are out during the night they will come during the day. If you are out during the day they come at night. If they just expect you all of the time they just go away if they do not get shot first.

You know, a couple days before they started war on my sweet corn, on the way to work I hit a young one in a group following the mother crossing the road at 5am down the street from the house. I kind of felt bad about it too.....
Now I’m going to kill every one of those Bastards in the area!

Anyone ever try an electric fence circle the field with an electric fence if they can’t get in they can’t get your corn just saying

Okay, this is war... they got half my corn now and didn’t leave a tip. Time for dessert

edit: just nailed groundhog #10

another edit: I’ll be danged if I don’t have another groundhog working on the corn, just ran him out of it. These things are worse than the coons... they don’t wait for it to get fully developed. Source of moisture I think.

Got a big male last night, the 3 the other night were adult females. Probably too little too late, there’s not much left of the corn....

All the animals here are out of control and I'm losing the battle. Growing up on the farm it was my primary job at our place and grandma & grandpas place to keep things shot out and trapped out. I show them no mercy! Coons are easy, between the neighbor and myself we have them pretty much gone. Deer&squirrels are giving me fits and they are here by the thousands. Yes thousands! Deer walk up our steps get on the porch and eat my wife's flowers. The neighbor lade had a couple ears of Indian corn she tied the husks back and hung on her front door last fall. Deer walked up the steps and ate it. A couple of weeks ago I was going to have breakfast with the boys from work so I left the car out in front of the garage. At 5:30 the next morning I went out to get in the car and had a whole herd of stinking deer on the drive milling around my car. This spring we had two apple trees that were so loaded with apples I told the wife we need to pick some off or they will break the tree limbs. We don't have a single apple left, the squirrels ate every single one. All the flowers and bushes are eaten off by the deer, nothing left. I told the wife we might as well move into town as the shear numbers are beyond me shooting them out.

I’m starting to think they leave just enough to keep us alive so we plant more the next year. I just shot another groundhog eating my zucchini plants. Little shit ran off after I made him do a backflip. They are tough as nails.

Get a green light. I use the Streamlight TLR green and adjust it so the center of the beam is in the cross hairs. They won't even know you are looking at them! I use Varmageddons in a 5.56 and it's too vicious to post pictures of. Deer will pull corn down too, and eat the silks, and pull the shoot out of the center before it tassels. Coyotes will eat it too. I have found their tracks in the field too and killed one last week going to the corn. It seems like everything where I live is out to get me! I go out the door and the mosquitoes are tearing me up and the coons and deer are trying to eat all my crops, coyotes eat the corn too, armadillos come live under the house and try to make me break my ankle in the yard, and bait stealers ruin my fishing this time of year.

My corn pollinated poorly this year - so, tell me - how do those stinking coons know to get the most filled out ears and leave the poor ears?

I believe they can smell it. We all got the same problems with coons and corn. I just spent about $90. on various lights shining right at my corn. Don't know if it works cause it just started to ripen up. No damage yet. They come through a drain tunnel about 2 Feet in dia. under the road in my front yard which leads to a field. Last week I had 3 sets of coon tracks across my drive heading for my back yard. They wouldn't go into my live box trap ( with fish for bait.) Can't shoot here either for houses !
