Coolbot…anyone here with experience?

Just curious if anyone here has used the coolbot system for a walk in deer cooler. The compressor has gone out on my deer cooler and by all accounts this would be a good replacement for my cooling system. Would love to hear from someone that has used it. Thanks.

While not a coolbot, it used o be common around here to rewire a window unit for use in a walk in cooler. Idk what was done

I have two of them. One for the walk-in cooler, the other to keep my meat processing facility down to working temps. The only thing you need to be aware of, is to use the A/C unit that they recommend so it's compatible with the CoolBot.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd

Thanks Lloyd! How long have you had it? I was wondering about how long I could expect the AC to last. I’d only be using it 3 1/2 months out of the year. I’d hope for at least 5 years from the AC. If not, I think I’m better off repairing my existing system. I appreciate you’re feedback.

Hello Mark,
I bought the biggest LG unit they make (15,500 BTU) I think. All reports lean towards that brand. I purchased an extended warranty as I use mine all year. As far a longevity, I don't know as mine is a new system.
I hope this helps,

Lloyd

I was HVAC/Refrigeration for 25 years. You can make any window unit do this without a Coolbot, Cool bot just makes it easier. It involves jumping out the units T stat with a separate cold control, like an aquarium temp control and fooling the coil temp sensor into thinking it's 70 degrees ( lightbulb ). This is a very over simplified explanation, but describing the process would get lengthy.

Now ya tell me!!! LOL

My neighbor modified a small window ac unit, takes one door off his trailer, has unit in a cut piece of plywood. Uses it to cool and a set beef quarters(1 week) each spring prior to the family annual beef pack. Has also taken it for out off state deer hunts. Will keep the 35-38 degrees easy in the 12' trailer. They do temporary slide some 1" Styrofoam sheets under the roof skin.

UPDATE 1-9-22

I got the Coolbot and a 12K window unit for my walk in cooler a couple of months ago. Works like a champ! Stays between 35-38 degrees easily. Had to “fine tune” it because it was getting too cold. One thing I like is that when not in use I just turn off the circuit breaker. All settings are saved and when I put a deer in it I just flip the breaker and within 20 minutes I’m at temp. With my original refrigeration system I was advised to run it year round. No issue turning AC on/off. Easy install and would certainly recommend.
